Well that's exactly what happened to Tiffany. She sent her 360 in for repairs and when they came to drop it off she was at work and she couldn't sign the papers to get it back, so it made it's way back to Microsoft. She then calls Microsoft again and customer service promises that they'll send the package to her work address the next time.

Then the craziness happened. Apparently, the suspicion came from the fact the owner requested two repair orders. The problem is, the said customer had sent her receipt and credit card statement proving ownership, but to no avail.

As of now the 360 has been MIA for four months.

Microsoft hasn't returned Tiffany's XBox 360 for four months because they think she is a thief, even though she has her original receipt and a credit card statement proving that she is the console's rightful owner. Microsoft repaired the XBox back in January and tried to return it via FedEx, but a shipping snafu landed the box back at Microsoft's service center. Tiffany has called repeatedly. She even sent a letter to Microsoft's legal department, after sending her receipt and statement, asking how else she could prove ownership. That was 22 days ago. She has yet to receive a response.

Tiffany writes:

I'm writing to you in hopes (just like Dustin at the military base, but possibly a little more desperate) that some day in the near future I can get my Xbox360 back.

I sent it to Microsoft to fix on January 5, 2008 and shipped it back to me on February 2, 2008; however, FedEx shipped it to my home address and I unfortunately couldn't sign for it because I was stuck at work. I requested that FedEx change the delivery address to my work address, but they said they couldn't without Microsoft's permission. I asked FedEx to hold it at the shipping center but it accidentally got returned to Microsoft's service center.

That's pretty messed up. Missing a 360 for four months when your being called thief to try and get your 360 back is kind of what Microsoft shouldn't be doing.

I can see another event like this happening, where Microsoft gives away a lot of stuff to try and keep away bad press. =/

    Edit: Agreeing with Jmac. =D

Wow, this is compltely *bleep*ed up. This is just bizarre though in the fact they can't give it back. Wouldn't have happened if they had have made the 360 not have the problem it does have.

You guys are blowing this out of proportion. If anything they're trying to save you guys that are sending in your 360's from getting your own consoles stolen by some crafty people.

I'm not calling this girl a thief but it's understandable and nice to see that Microsoft is being careful about this whole shipping debacle.

They're protecting you guys! Not themselves by not giving this 360 back just at the drop of a hat. How does it benefit Microsoft to keep the 360? It benefits you if an actual thief were to try this same thing and end up with your 360 if it were different and Microsoft didn't pay much attention to these things.

It's a unfortunate that she has to wait but no doubt she will get her 360 back.

You people are so freaking close minded. So close minded you don't realize this show's a good thing, not a bad thing. This shows that Microsoft cares about actually getting it back to the rightful owner, and with the number of broken 360's that Microsoft goes through, aren't you glad they actually do care?

I kind of see where your coming from. Trying to keep your 360 safe.

But it all seems like their keeping it safe by not giving it back to you. Which sounds kind of Aka ward. =/

Like I said, it sucks for sure, if it were me I'd be pissed too but I also would know that Microsoft is going to eventually give me back my 360, especially if I'm the rightful owner.

I mean if I know that I'm the rightful owner I'm not going to worry about it, Microsoft isn't just going to hold on to someones 360 and not give it back if they're unsure about who's it actually is. They're going to give it back to someone, that much is clearly obvious. If they give it back to someone other than me, the rightful owner, well that's what small claims court is for. That being said, there's no doubt in my mind this 360 will go back to her provided she is the rightful owner. It's impossible for us to be sure so bear that in mind.

Yeah, it's a shame really. It seems to me she's legit, but for every legit claim like this there are dozens attempting to get free shit.

If she's truly the legitimate owner I'm sure it will work itself out soon. If not? Well then the world is just a bit safer for all us 360 owners.

Contrary to popular belief I don't just bash shit without a good reason. There's no good reason here to be negative against the 360. Other than that, the 360 is worthless to me because all of it's good games come out on the PC and the hardware design is downright pathetic.

Slumpy whats wrong, he speaks the truth in every post in this article.

          PC > 360

Also i agree with jmac here, although its weird that its been 4 months and no 360,
But im sure its to protect them.

It's been 6 months, and Microsoft won't even send the damn box to send my 360 in. They keep denying me. I had to go buy a new 360 back in January.

What's worse, not getting your 360 fixed or losing your newly fixed 360 forever to someone else pretending to be you?

Considering the amount of 360's sent in for repairs you'd think they'd try and provide decent customer service wouldn't you?

We always knew that Microsoft where thieves... I mean just look at them, they're trying to take our money by selling us a dodgy OS. If that's not a crime then I don't know what is :£

Why is it that anyone that says something negative about Msoft gets thumbed down?

Why the hell do people always defend Msoft like they are their loved ones?

LMAO. That's hilarious, I'm not even sure what else that girl could do to prove she owns the thing, she's already given in her receipt and credit card statements. Microsoft probably just screwed up somewhere and now they're like 'nuu u knt hve it bak' D=.
