While the police and other officials in Chicago try to settle the recent shooting incidents, a Fox News affiliate has questioned about the posting of GTA IV advertisments on buses and buildings that are owned by the Chicago Transit Authority.
As a result, the CTA president has informed the Fox affiliate that the adverts would be removed.

And, just like that, CTA president Ron Huberman folded on the issue, telling Fox News through a representative that the ads would be removed.

It’s not the first time that Chicago’s buses have provided the setting for a GTA controversy. In 2004 Gov. Rod Blagojevich railed against transit ads for GTA San Andreas.

Over the years, GTA transit ads have come under fire in other cities as well. In 2006 Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and others forced the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) to pull ads for GTA Vice City Stories. The transit chief there justified his decision by issuing a policy which equates M-rated games with X-rated movies.

In the past, GTA bus ads have also come under fire in Portland, Oregon and Denver.

I think you guys are a little biased towards GTA. i mean, a parent could censor their child on their own. but a parent can't help what the kid see's while they're out on their own. i don't think GTA needs advertisements on buses. the game is well known enough as it is.

Honestly though, how the hell could an advert on a bus be so obscene, that it would encourage someone to jack a car? At the end of the day, it's the parents responsibility to make sure that minors don't get their hands on the game itself.

Pretty simple There's idiots in the world who may see a ads about Niko beating the crap out of a cop and stealing the car or something along the lines and think its what they should do. While i understand why they did it, that doesn't mean i agree on it. But at the end of the day its them trying to help parents, since they're mostly to busy to actually raise the kid properly, no offense to parents. But if the parents actually was more pro-active shit like this wouldn't happen. I bet liberals are behind this.

Guess you can't blame the officials for banning these ads anymore. Mainstream news is what runs a good chunk of the population whether it's common sense or not, guess we need more people in respected fields to state the obvious again so people can snap out of it.
