Diablo 3 Counter Nothing To Do With Diablo 3

A counter on Diablo3.com launched numerous rumours and theories as to what it was counting down to. With so much speculation going on, Staff at Diablo3 decided to clear things out with regards to what the counter is NOT pointing too... However considering how they initially put the counter saying "half the internet is going to link to us" I don't see why they'd tell us that it's nothing to do with Diablo 3... unless it's something quite big nonetheless.

...But what can this counter actually be for? Well I guess we'll have to wait till May 1st to find out. Till then here are some of the things the counter is NOT for, and more is located at the source.

With that said, I will mention some of those I have ruled out since it seems fans haven't thoroughfully read all the forum posts in said thread.

Things the May 1 Announcement are not:
1. It is not an official announcement of Diablo 3
2. It is not about an upcoming Diablo novel
3. It is not a Network merge

    Figured it was something unrelated, although it's odd they bought this domain and never chased prior domains based on the series. Once the change hits I'll be spamming the whois servers for a validation on who picked it up of course.

    They haven't come close to coming up with a year for SCII to be released I doubt they'd start sparking up much about D3 until they have another Con somewhere in the world.
