As you know, the Metal Gear Online Beta has been delayed. Konami has revealed that the Metal Gear Online Beta will (should) return this coming Friday.

As I’m sure most of you know by now (at least those who cared), the Metal Gear Online Beta has been delayed due to “high demand”. Uncertain as to when we would finally be able to play the beta, Konami updated their site to inform us that it will return this Friday. Here is how they put it:

“Start date: Planned for 04/25/2008 24:00(PDT). While the start is planned for the weekend, it may change due to unforseen [sic] circumstances.”

“Unforeseen circumstances” like what happened today? I hope not.

You know, after playing COD4 online, I'm not too excited over this. Most online games nowadays involve little to no strategical thinking; just run and shoot. Games with tactics are much more rewarding. And even though this is Metal Gear, it'll boil down to the same thing.

      ...

Have you been keeping up on ANYTHING about Metal Gear Online??? , the MGO (including MPO) trailers shows perfect teamwork and tactics (ignoring the occasional jokes and whatnot). ESPECIALLY like Portable Ops, which require you to manage a team of soldiers and whatnot...wow dude...

Well that's one way to make an ass of yourself. You can even go to the lengths of helping your teammates up to higher places a la army of two.

But yeah, clearly you've never played the original MG Online. One of the few games were playing tactically, slowly, and quietly is rewarded.

I feel very very stupid and cornered now...lol.

Well, when I eventually get MGS4, I'll try out MGO and see what it's all about.

You also have to take into consideration the style of play that many gamers you run into online use. Many games are meant to be strategic, but many gamers only want to run and shoot, as you stated. It doesn't necessarily mean the game itself is all run n gun. Being that this is Metal Gear Online, I can guarantee you that the first person to try to be Rambo will have his ass handed to him, at least in certain modes of play. I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if MGO plays a lot like Rainbow 6.

'Cause if I know anything, I'm a good tactician. And COD4 and other shooters never let me use my brains in a fight.

So maybe MGO will be pretty good for me!

to think, someone that might have, most likely have, played an MGS game would say that....it makes me question the state of mind people are in

of course its gonna be tactical why do you think they add a sprint button?
