You may have heard of Sony releasing a PS3 + GTA IV bundle, but that is yet to be confirmed. Microsoft seems to be countering this threat with their own bundle, consisting Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. They also seem to be offering the 'Arcade' version of the system which does not include a hard drive. They’ll retail for $499.95 (Arcade) and $679.95 (Pro).

Both these deals are selling at a huge discount to the recommended retail prices of their constituent parts – Microsoft is basically giving away Halo 3 for free.

This is further proof that Microsoft is taking the release of GTA IV very, very, seriously, and views its launch as a make-or-break moment for the Xbox 360.

I can't imagine there are a lot of people who want Halo 3 and haven't picked up a 360 for it...but it's a pretty good deal none the less.

Was there a problem with just having GTA 4 and a 360? Seems to me if they really want to compete with Sony's bundle they should try to keep their price lower.

      Final Blade Apr 22, 08
Mindless Drones who has no understanding of consoles.
This has to be the most laughable counter attack in gaming history. The Arcade sucks. The Premium would've been a better package. Jesus come on MS, think before you act.

Final Blade, read before you reply. There's a Premium package, too.

Um ok. But still its quite pricey, more than the PS3 bundle. Why bother having two games, which one game most has already?

At the end this counter attack won't work. The PS3 Bundle is just cheaper.

A weird package, if you ask me. It seems that they're just dumping Halo 3 in there to try and make it better than the PS3 Bundle.

The PS3 bundle is better to casual gamers just because it is a Playstation product, it is all they know...

        It is.

People arent going to go "Hmm, I dont play games much and I really only want to play this game. Ive heard of halo to, its supposed to be good, but dispite all of this i am going to get the more expensive one"

Honestly if you can find me someone who hasn't heard of GTA or Halo then you win the internet...

edit. This excludes old people who are just getting into VHS, as well as people who can't name Halo. Because, they probably still heard of it. Which is fair because these people aren't intrested in gaming packages at all in the first place.

It sounded like an OK package, until I read the part about it using the Arcade SKU. That's just horrible.

Its to make the price lower.

There not going for quality. There going for some console sales on the back of GTA:IV.

I've edited the article to make it clearer that there are indeed two purchase options, not just the Arcade bundle.

In the UK we get ripped off for games related purchases.

      It's worse in Australia. $500 isn't bad.

Am I missing something here? Because this is pretty damn expensive. It is cheaper to just buy the Pro, then GTA IV and Halo 3 all separately. I MUST be not understanding something?

Yeah, last time I checked, the Arcade is $279.99 and the Pro is $349.99. So if you were to add the prices of Halo 3, which is $59.99, and GTAIV, which is $59.99, that would only add up to about $400 for the Arcade and $470 for the Pro. Even if you bought an Elite and those two games seperately, it would only add up to about $570.

So unless those aren't USDs we're talking about, those numbers are messed up.

It's coming from an Australian website so it's probably Australian Dollars.

I went onto the EB website for Australia. 2 new games and a Pro Console came to $779.95 (Australian Dollars)
