Steve Wysowski, from Xbox Focus says that he loves Gears of War greatly, but he then rambles on about how he thinks Gears of War 2 will suck when it allegedly releases in November of this year. To basically sum up some of his points, he thinks that Epic has horrible vocabulary, simply calling the game, 'badass'. Then he says that they're also really slow to produce games and how it took them 3 years to make Unreal Tournament 3. Finally, he says that the original game had amazing graphics and blew the player away, but since then, improvements have been made and other games have surpassed it, making it hard for staff to make the graphics even better.

Before you jump on my ass over this column's title, please know that the author of this column is a rabid Gears of War junkie. I've spent countless hours on the original Gears, and I still play the original game quite often. I played the game so intensely at one point, that I even got invited to a handful MLG tournaments (yes, I'm bragging) and had some high spots on the game's online rankings. As you could have imagined, the announcement of Gears of War 2 initially had me absorbed with hype, but as the months have passed, I've become more and more skeptical of the upcoming mega shooter.

Sigh, the films 'Analyze This' and 'Analyze That,' come to mind here.

I understand where he's coming from, but how about we just wait until it's September and we have the game in our hands before making such judgements. These predictions or theorizing will drive the hardcore fans of this new series mad, I hope Steve realizes that...no matter how much of a fan he says he is, how many hours he put in, the fans will get upset over this.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but perhaps they started developing this game not too long after the first Gears, so timing isn't a big issue. And we still have a third game set for the 360 to complete the trilogy.

I realize its only a "guess" at this point, but how can anyone really judge the game when we've seen or heard hardly anything about the game? Thats just like saying "Uncharted 2 might suck". People have the right to opinion, but there is something that most people have and don't often use, and thats common sense. Wait till you see something before making such rash predictions.

Well Common sense is ironic in a sense that people should have it, but since they don't, the term common sense shouldn't be use. It should just be Sense. Cause common sense is supposed to be common, but yet its actually rare.

I can see his point of view to be honest, however they may have some things to make it better.

That comment is so ironically delicious.

There's always going to be someone talking about how something might suck and how something might be really good, anyways.

I, personally, think that his reasons aren't very strong.

    This is pretty unprofessional.

I mean, it's one thing from one of us to say it might suck... because it might. I didn't love the first one like some people did. It was, however, pretty damn far from bad.

My point overall being is if this guy is concerned maybe he should mention it at the water cooler, or in some forum. Or maybe while playing on Live. It's pretty *bleep*ing stupid to make an article based on an assumption. Even if a certain developers track record provides plenty support to your argument.

At least wait til' we see some gameplay.

Gears of War 2 might suck. Metal Gear Solid 4 might suck. The next Mario game might suck.

Any game has the potential to be great and conversely the potential to suck.

Well, he did bring up that Epic doesn't have the greatest track record with a lot of things that Gears 2 will fall under.

It's more reasonable to say Gears 2 might suck than any of those you mentioned...simply because they haven't limited themselves with a release date...and only release every few years as opposed to 2.
