I understand where he's coming from, but how about we just wait until it's September and we have the game in our hands before making such judgements. These predictions or theorizing will drive the hardcore fans of this new series mad, I hope Steve realizes that...no matter how much of a fan he says he is, how many hours he put in, the fans will get upset over this.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but perhaps they started developing this game not too long after the first Gears, so timing isn't a big issue. And we still have a third game set for the 360 to complete the trilogy.
I can see his point of view to be honest, however they may have some things to make it better.
I, personally, think that his reasons aren't very strong.
I mean, it's one thing from one of us to say it might suck... because it might. I didn't love the first one like some people did. It was, however, pretty damn far from bad.
My point overall being is if this guy is concerned maybe he should mention it at the water cooler, or in some forum. Or maybe while playing on Live. It's pretty *bleep*ing stupid to make an article based on an assumption. Even if a certain developers track record provides plenty support to your argument.
At least wait til' we see some gameplay.
Any game has the potential to be great and conversely the potential to suck.
It's more reasonable to say Gears 2 might suck than any of those you mentioned...simply because they haven't limited themselves with a release date...and only release every few years as opposed to 2.
