Mike Capps, the president of Epic Games, participated in a "How to Get a Job in the Video Gaming Industry" panel at NYCC last Sunday, where he said video game degrees don't mean much to him; experience is what he wants.

Capps was part of a panel titled “How to Get a Job in the Video Gaming Industry” at the New York Comic Con this past Sunday, joined by Jason Schreiber, founder and president Power Head Games, Julianne Greer, executive editor The Escapist, and Joshua Ortega, writer for Gears of War 2. During a Q&A session, Capps was asked: “How important is a professional game developing degree when it comes to applying for a job in the industry?”

    Good to see. The education system is so flawed anyway..seems like in some ways we're going back to about 40 years ago when training and experience was everything.

    I would rather like to see some degrees though, it proves how your not that stupid, and at least you know what your doing.

    Actually, it really doesn't. Experience in the field is the best gauge of your ability.

    It's been revealed that College education is usually not needed at all even for huge jobs. Instead of putting your academic years in a resumé. you might as well put the years you've spent putting it into practice.
