Silent Hill: Homecoming "kills" Harker: The Game

Gothic Girl | April 22, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
A while ago The Collective (now known as "Double Helix") announced the game Harker, a survival-horror set around the classic tale of Dracula. The screenshots looked promising enough, but an entire year had passed with little more information released on the game. And now we know why... Harker has been put on "permanent hiatus" so that Double Helix can focus on Silent Hill: The Homecoming instead.
GameSpot has confirmed with Foundation 9 that the Bram Stoker-inspired vampire-slaying action game has been put on permanent hiatus.

"The best way to put it is that the Harker team rolled into the Silent Hill V team," a Foundation 9 representative told GameSpot.
"Frequently, when you pitch original IP, a publisher sees your vision and says, 'You know, we don't quite want X, but could you do Z?' So, it's not like Harker was rolling along and killed; it's more like the team simply started doing something else, directly in the same vein (no pun intended!)."

Putting off MUA2 for this new Spidey game is stupid, but putting off Harker to work on Silent Hill's latest game is smart, imo. Silent Hill is more recognized (obviously, it's a sequel), and has a decent fan-following. Harker is a new title, not as anticipated, so I'd say it's a good move.

Makes sense. Harker was looking like an appealing IP for me but SH5 takes priority. It's a good thing they're abandoning the whole Cult storyline because quite frankly, involving crazy, religious people and trying to explain the mystery just kills it for me.

Well aslong as the game comes out and i enjoy it then i have nothing more to complain about. It should be an awesome game, highly looking forward to it personally.
