Dan Houser, the Rockstar founder has shot all possible speculations on there being a Grand Theft Auto Movie as during a interview with Varirty he claimed that they do not plan on making one as Rockstar never deemed the idea interesting and instead wish to protect the property of the game instead of milking as much as possible out of the franchise as it is the main asset of the company.

Washington (eCanadaNow) - According to Rockstar cofounder Dan Houser, the company has no plans or interest to make a feature film based on the Grand Theft Auto series. This comes as rumors continue that a movie will be made based around the upcoming release of GTA IV on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Rockstar cofounder Houser spoke to Variety in an interview, stating that they have no interestin a GTA movie adaptation.

He stated that "We try and protect" the intellectual property.

He stated that GTA is the "main asset in the company."

House believes it is not good to milk the franchise, put out a new game every single year. He stated that the idea of a GTA movie "never seemed interesting creatively."

It seems that Rockstar has zero intest in a GTA movie. This kills all rumors circulating about the possibility of a film. Some rumors have even went as far as to say Eminem would be the lead in the feature-film.

Good. I don't want them cheapening, or milking it either. I get tired of all the lame ass video game movies.

Good indeed. Way to go Rockstar. A GTA movie would just ruin it.

    Smart move by Rockstar.

I honestly don't like video games getting their own movies. Some of the time they are horrible.

Movies based on video games never work. As do video games based on movies. The two just don't fall hand in hand.

A Grand Theft Auto movie would be horrible. No one would know how to make it right, and it wouldn't be able to be released because of all the violence there would have to be- and GTA without large amounts of violence is just not GTA.

I don't think a movie would be good. They'd just make up some shit plot and it'd be dead. Yeah, they would actually make a lot of money probably, due the the popularity, but it would suck...well at least that's what I think.

Definitely. It would bring the franchise down, and there are already quite a few movies that have 'GTA-like' motives and such.

Well i never did support the idea, but if you think about it there is so many movies like this. Scarface, God Father etc. I mean I think there is enough Shooting movies out there.

@theundertakergonzo: Thats not entire true, the Bourne video game seems to be awesome from what we've heard. The only reason the videogames based off movies seem to fail is cause they try to make it as close as the movie.

UM where did you get that?? I love those two movies, my point is GTA is very similar to Scarface, and the God Father in terms of shooting movies. And i also said there is too many movies about Shooting, why ruin a great Videogame by turning it into a movie, when those movies weren't a video game first??
