9 hours? This is the culmination of one of the industry's top franchises. It almost overflows over a 50GB disc and is said to have half hour cutscenes. The producer himself said the game is pretty long. No, I don't believe this at all, sorry its a mistake. .

It seems believable. Size and length don't always go hand-in-hand, especially with games like Metal Gear Solid. They are known for the absurd amount of detail in them. That detail extends to every aspect of this game, from textures to AI to voice work to the actual sound quality (which takes up a lot of disk space). Kojima is known for taking advantage of anything he can if it makes the game better. If he has more disk space, why not take advantage of it?

By the way, time spent in cutscenes may not have been counted as actual game time.

It may be because the playthrough went linear from start to finish without getting sidetracked with the possible enormous amount of extras the game has in store.

It may just be 9 hours of gameplay, not gameplay + vids. I could see that. MGS3 was around 9-12 hours. I don't see this game being like that at all.

Whatever. I will be extremely disappointed if this game is 9 damn hours long.

Jeez. It is just the Cutscenes people. The total Cutscene video time was revealed a while ago, I think.

No way is MGS4 less than 10 hours long.

Like the first commenter said, they can't pin a specific amount of time on Gameplay like they did.

Well seeing as the "Running Time" term is pretty much an enigma to a lot of people (including those in the source website), I'm guessing it DOES mean Cutscenes...and it would make sense...as MGS's scenes are incredibly long (That's not excluding Portable Ops either).

I thought they said it was 8 hours of Cutscenes?

Uh, nine hours of cutscenes is more than eight hours. You do know that nine comes after eight but before ten?

Stop being a smart ass, Thats not what they said on a previous article stated here. It was Stated it was 8 hours worth of cutscenes for this game. Thats why im asking. Which makes me doubt this article further.

AFAIK, The "8 hours worth of cutscenes" article wasn't for MGS4. It was for GTAIV.
9 hours just is too short. Heck, Portable Ops gave more than 9 hours.
          (Doesn't matter to me, anyway. I don't have a PS3 )
