Soulcalibur IV director Katsutoshi Sasaki has denied speculation that Yoda will be a god-like character in his guest performance in Soul Calibur IV. After confirming that both the dimunitive Jedi Master and Darth Vader would make appearances in the game rumours abounded as to the super force that Yoda might present in the game.

Outside of online play, one of the biggest tangents of discussion around “Soul Calibur IV” has been Darth Vader and Yoda as playable guest characters. Such inclusions are not new to the “Soul Calibur franchise” — “Soul Calibur II” had Link, Heihachi and Spawn — but Yoda has proven controversial, due to his extreme height advantage. The smaller they are, the harder they are to hit?

Sasaki isn’t worried. “The influences that Yoda will have in terms of gameplay because of his height, [is that] some of the upper attacks won’t hit him,” he said. “However, we always try to make the gameplay fun, so we prepare positive demerits of choosing Yoda and also negative demerits on it. There’s always some give and take.”

But what if Yoda keeps beating me? Unfortunately, Sasaki wouldn’t disclose any secrets for defeating the green Star Wars hero. “[laughs] I don’t know who will be best to use to defeat him, but what’s more interesting is you can use Asteroth to make it like David and Goliath,” he said. “That’d be fun.”

Well in the last trailer I saw, Yoda was doing some crazy air juggle combo that I thought had no place in the game, so if he plays anything like that normally, then I would have to say that he is unbalanced. I still don't understand what Vader and Yoda are doing in the game to begin with.

It's a sad attempt at getting a larger crowd to buy the game, but if this means more competition online, then hell, bring on the SW characters.

I want Yoda to be unbalanced. It would be super fun to play with/against. Imagine some of the ways you could taunt your opponents with him by flipping all over the place and stuff. And then to play against him would be the ultimate test of your skill.

Nearly all special guest characters in any game are unbalanced, they don't put enough time into their movesets, they just throw them in there to make better sales.

LMAO looks like PS3 owners benefit seeming how DV isn't unbalanced.

Anyway does it matter, im sure Yoda will be fun to play with and thats all that matters.

iLL its cause they are cool characters, and SC always had some special Guest Character.

Considering one of the EGMs confirmed downloadable content including the other system's exclusive character, it's unbalanced for both platforms

This doesn't make any sense. How can Yoda possibly have bad balance? I mean the closer your center of gravity to the ground the better balance you're going to have. It's as simple as that. Since Yoda is so short he should have impeccable balance, I don't believe this.
