Congratulations goes out to Assassin's Creed today, as the game has sold over 6 million copies as of March 31st. Ubisoft has stated that it's the fastest-selling new videogame intellectual property ever in the United States. Impressive.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed continues to motor on, selling over 6 million units as of March 31 this year, further establishing itself as a star franchise for the game maker.

The sales figure came as part of Ubisoft's quarterly earnings report.

The game launched on November 13 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is slated for release on PC this fiscal quarter.

When the title outstripped targets with sell-through of 2.5 million in December, Ubisoft said it was the fastest-selling new videogame intellectual property ever in the US.

Indeed it is. The repetitiveness that so many complained about did not bother me at all.

Same. Repetitiveness is in just about every game, anyways.

I still have yet to beat this game, got to the final chapter before trying to back-track and get all the flags and such. Bah, I should just beat it and go flag-hunting.

storm u need to finish the game as soon as u can. the ending is great. AC is one of my favorite games from 2007, along with mass effect and COD4. The next AC is going to be amazing.

      What? The ending was terrible.

The repetitiveness killed it. Although repetitiveness definitely exists in other games, at least other games make it fun while doing it. The things AC made you do were pretty boring and was a detriment to the game. That and other touches made it a decent game, but not a great game.

I definitely have spoken my mind about the redundancy of the game, and it was not necessary to have so many useless "objectives," but the ending is far from terrible. I won't say any specifics, since Storm didn't finish it yet, but I believe the story is one of the stronger parts of the game as a whole. There is actually A LOT of literature on the topics discussed in the game, and that is what I find most intriguing about it.

Bah, this game is really not that great. I was so hyped for it but it was just so mediocre. It did give me 500000 views on youtube for a video i made though

Assassin's Creed was a decent game at best, hardly worth a purchase. There are so many games much more worthy of selling 6 million that didn't even get half that. It's a shame, really. AC was overhyped. WAY overhyped.

Im pretty sure Halo 3 was more over hyped than any game in existence.

Anyway thats cool. I thought i heard someone say this game sucked?
Still i need to get this game, i just didn't have money with the other games i was getting

So the hell what? Halo 3 had the justification of being hyped because it's Halo. I still have no idea why the hell Assassin's Creed got so much attention when it turns out it was nothing more than an average game.

LOTS of people said it sucked. Personally, I don't think it sucks but I hardly think it's in any way shape or form worth a purchase. Horrible plot and 0 replayability.

I agree with LMC, decent game but there are so much better.
I think this article just proves that with excessive advertising and hype a game can sell much more than it deserves.

Point is it got hyped up and got ridiculous scores. Halo 3 was nothing but a Halo 2.5. And should have been scored 8.4/10 not over 9s.
GTA games has also hype but it deserves the hype cause it just isn't the same as the past ones. Where Halo 2 and 3 just seemed to be the same stuff. Halo 1 will always be the best game out of the 3.

No one cares about your gripe with Halo 3, dude. It's completely irrelevant.

I don't know about the reviews, but personally, I liked the game and I beat it like for the sixth time yesterday. And yes, I think the ending was good. I can't wait for the sequel already!

I'm glad Ubisoft accomplished to sell this many units. Now, I hope they make AC2 and make it just a little less repetitive and a little more diverse. If they manage to do that as well as go more in depth with the game play and plot. It will surely be one of the best games/franchise out there.

Seriously?? How in the hell could you go through this game SIX times? It has probably the least replay value of any game I've played in over 20 years.

        Storm Apr 25, 08
Personal preference I'd assume. The gameeplay is fun (well, the PoP-like techniques are very smooth), but yeah...I probably wouldn't go through the game that many times. Sub must really like it.

I go through my games more than 3 times. Its just i want to play it. So i would also play through AC many times.

Maybe I overexaggerated a bit, but it feel like 6 times. But Storm pretty much understands my tastes.

And iLL. I just look for new ways to kill the targets. Like recently I found a unique way to approach my target unsuspected. And I'm into platforming so I do that a lot as well. I just love pushing a guard and letting them chase me. Never gets old.
