As part of the promotion for the imminent Mario Kart Wii launch, Nintendo is going to send Mario out into the streets of New York to hail (and pay for) cabs for those in need.

This Thursday, April 24, if you head out to the Sheraton Hotel on 811 7th Ave., between 52nd and 53rd streets, you'll be able to meet Mario, or a reasonable facsimile of same. He'll be able to hail you a cab, which he will then pay for in advance (!), from 8-10 AM and 12-2 PM.

Any New York City Game|Lifers want to head down and snap some pics? Bonus points if you get a ride to the Nintendo World Store.

TBH, I wouldn't pick him up. There are enough strange people in New York. We don't need some Spin-Off Monger calling taxis.

Pay for it as well? How come Nintendo are so desperate? I mean, it's not like GTA IV is gonna come over to the Wii and kill the Mario Kart market.
Chill, Nintendo. Mario Kart Wii is gonna sell and it's gonna sell good.

This is exactly why Nintendo's marketing sucks.
Use this money for making commercials, Nintendo. Not dressin some guy up in a Mario suit.

If Nintendo had an Achilles Heel this would be it.
God a guy dressing up as Mario, what the hell is he promoting or marketing? All of the Massive library milks of Mario games.
EDIT: Oh Mario Kart Wii your joking right? I mean how does this even promote that game?

Wow this article and your posting made my day. ROTFL

Trust me, Gothic Girl, they needed all the money they can for the commercial. The one I saw last night was so incredibly retarted that I was actually ashamed to think that I will own that game in two days.

I saw the Wii commercial for the first time last night and was.......appalled to say the least.....we are in 2008 right? It was a used car salesmen shtick.....I dunno seems like Nintendo is still stuck in the '80s!!! They need a new marketing company!!!
