PS3 can outstrip 360's current installed base within a year, says Eidos CFO Rob Murphy.
According to Parker Consulting, 360 is installed in over eight million homes globally – and Eidos chief financial officer Murphy told MCV that the publisher is looking for PS3 to reach or better that number by April next year, leaving the market ripe for Eidos' top-line franchises.

I don't know if the PS3 will sell that well that fast. I mean, they will have some great games soon, but the system is still expensive (even if they reduced it soon). =/

Seems a rather bold claim. It's just one of those things that is quite hard to predict, but considering the xbox 360s head start and lower price I'm doubtful.

Heh, bit of a large claim there, isn't it? After all, the 360's been out for a good while now, and still have Xbox fans with them. Between that and exclusive games, they better have some really good games to back that statement up, a decent price drop, and a prayer. (yes, I'm being over-cynical on purpose)

I wonder what tatic he's planning on then?

I am wondering that as well. He's claiming that he can sell a ton of consoles in only a year. Perhaps they are counting on the games that are being released soon? That's the only thing I can think of. No matter what they are doing though, I doubt it will work. =/

I highly doubt this. The PS3 is still the lowest seller of the 3 consoles and the number of X360 owners should rise with the release of Halo 3. There would have to be a substantial increase in the games available for the PS3 before it is able to get above the sales of the X360.

In all honestly I doubt that the PS3 will ever make a comeback. They just don't have the games . Not to mention Halo 3 is releasing later this year. So if the PS3 wants to try and "out-do" the PS3 they will have to come out with a game more popular than the Halo series. As well as get more exclusives.

Have to agree there. While there is the odd PSN exclusive information, for the most part, games like Grand Theft Auto (which isn't exclusive), Final Fantasy, and a few ports which the 360 had first (Oblivion), there's just too many games and too large of a gap for the PS3 to make up.

I have to agree, that is a HUGE claim. It could potentially meet it, but I highly doubt it will happen that soon.

Unless a price drop happens and more exclusives come Sony's way I dont see this happening.

For all we know there could be thousands of FF and MGS fans that are waiting for those games to come and then they buy there ps3. But beat it, no. Get a great install base, most likely.
