UK retailer Woolworths is reporting that Wii Fit is selling at a rate of 90 units per minute from its nationwide stores. Complete with early queues from eager gamers, its games trading manager said the response had been something "unheard of" previously.

Nintendo's Wii Fit launched to a frenzy of eager consumers in the UK today, and, according to high street store Woolworths, is being snapped up at a rate of 90 units per minute from their hundreds of outlets.

    I can't really say that this would interest me if I had a Wii.....but my fiance is all jumpy about it, and wants me to get her a Wii ASAP........ :-\

    That is freaking awesome for the Wii fit. But i don't reckon they could keep it up forever. It's going to have to slow down eventually, but good for them. That is awesome.

    Nice to see that Wii Fit is selling like hotcakes! Even though it seems like a funky piece of kit, I probably won't get it since I'm low on cash right now, and I don't think that it will suit me enough to get much attention.

    Great to see it doing well, but I'll be happy with Brawl and Mario Kart for a while.

    Wow, that's crazy. 90 in a minute? Nintendo is going to make a whole bunch of money off this! Maybe it's better then I first thought it would be.
