What's going on at Capcom? Has someone lost the Okami concept art?

Capcom stole Okami artwork from IGN to use on their box-art. And now BradyGames has used an IGN image on the Okami guide. This time the watermark is even more obvious ...

Misery loves company! It's OK, Capcom. You weren't the only ones to leave an IGN watermark on your own Okami art. Bradygames left one on the cover of their Okami Wii strategy guide, too! What's even kookier is that the watermark appears in a different spot on the book's cover than on the game's cover, meaning it's not just a case of re-using the same art from Capcom's cover. Whoops. Wonder if they'll offer replacement dust covers?

This doesn't make any sense. Why don't they use their own art? I'm also sure there are plenty of sites that have the art hosted, not just IGN, so why pick the site that has a watermark?

LMAO, i would bet money that they actually asked to used it, but yet people are thinking they're stealing it.

They're technically stealing their own artwork, that's what makes it funny.

Interesting, but why did my post get thumbed down?

The fact that it is in a different spot is what makes this strange/funny. Either there are some really stupid artists out there or someone is having a bit of a luagh stirring up controversy but leaving in the watermarks.

Man are people just not bothering with the art for this game? It is so easy to take a unmarked picture

One way or another a picture is from someone, or some place. The best way to avoid it is to take a picture yourself and use it.

Haha, I'm checking out the guide at work to see if this is true. Hysterical.

You would think they'd have plenty of clean copies of the artwork.

I wonder if this happened to stir up a little controversy.

Capcom absorbed Clover Studios. This likely caused original artwork to dissolve, as does anything Capcom touches.

Disbanded is the proper way to address it. Some staff was left behind but a large portion went on to form an independent studio from the arm of Capcom.

Ain't that the truth. Clover got on my good side with that simultaneous Okami and Godhand release schedule. Both were pretty 'ownable' games.

hmm. Maybe they are practicing subliminal advertising and IGN is actually paying for this?

It's true! I saw the game box while at work and sure enough you can see the IGN watermark next to the wolf's mouth. I showed my store manager and he laughed as hard as I did.

We know times are kind of hard right now Capcom, but come ON man.
