Date Set for Dragon Quest

Sakura | April 13, 2007 | News | Wii
Hopefully we'll get a North American date soon as well.
The Wii is going through somewhat of a dry spell in Japan (although new purchasers of the machine seem content with Wii Sports and Wii Play), but Square Enix is doing its part to change that. The company announced today a final release date for Dragon Quest Swords. The Wii-exclusive entry in Japan's biggest RPG series will arrive on 7/12, carrying a price tag of 6,800 yen (about a thousand yen higher than most Wii software, but equally cheaper than the normal asking price for a full entry in the series).

Dragon Quest Swords represents a number of firsts for the series. In addition to being the first next generation Dragon Quest game, it's also the first time the series has featured voices in its home country. The Japanese version of Dragon Quest VIII was silent; voices were added exclusively for the international version.

I'm glad that we finally got a release date, even though it wasn't for North America. Hopefully the North American release date won't be far off from the Japanese one. I can't wait for this game. =)

I enjoyed DQ8 so this should be fun, will we be getting it otuside of Japan though? Dragon Warrior/Quest games were notorious for not being released in NA/Europe.

Well, with DQ8 being successful here, and I believe we have been given a release date for another DQ game (can't remember which one exactly), I'm sure that it will be released here. =)

Dragon Quest! Finally, even though it's only a Japanese release date, it still means that the North American one is not that far away. I read an article of Dragon Quest that the release date HAS to be on weekends, because people used to skip work, school, etc.

Ahh good to hear, hopefully the Euro release won't be too far from the NA one. With DQ8 we had a reasonably long wait and we also lost out on the ffxii demo.

Awesome one step closer to an NA release date. And European release date as well! ^^
