GTA IV locking up?

It has only been released for a day and already trouble is brewing with Rockstar's highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 4. Internet forums are apparently receiving large numbers of complaints from both 360 and PS3 owners whose game froze in the opening cutscene. Whether this is a rare occurrence or a world wide epidemic remains to be seen

What's that you say? GTA IV's only been out for a few hours, and already the internet's decided that both the PS3 and 360 versions are broken? That's what many forums - as well as many of our readers - would have you believe, with reports of the game locking up during/following the game's first cutscene, an error so severe you apparently have to unplug your console at the wall. Shades of Bully on 360, perhaps?

    OMG! Holy shit. How come none of the reviewers got this error? And an error common to BOTH versions? I'd say this is all BS if I didn't know better. (Do I, actually?)

      It's difficult to say whether or not it's that common. You have to understand that GTA4 is going to move way more copies than most other games and because of that sheer quantity there's going to be a higher percentage of copies that may get *bleep*ed in the creation process compared to most games but in the grand scheme of things this may or may not be a "common" problem.

      Not every copy of the game has to have errors, there are usually rogue batches that when played may do something like this... I'm just hoping the one I have sitting at home isn't one of them

    Mines great, no problems on the first cutscene or missions. Sucks to be them though.

    The worst thing that has happened to me was when the game froze for a few seconds.

    Game has froze 2 times on me now in a period of 4 hours. Both times while driving. There is obviously something wrong with the game if this is happening.

      Mine froze once while driving when taking a corner.
