A recent call to Rockstar support was made and a representative stated that the freezing problem in GTA 4 is apparently only affecting 60 GB version's of PS3's, but there have been reports of the 360's version of the game having the same problem. The representative also stated that there is no fix to the freezing problem in sight.

The man told me that the problem is apparently only effecting the 60 GB version of the Playstation 3. He said the problem is not across the board for the 60GB PS3s but rather only impacts some, so their tech folks are working around the clock to try and figure out what is causing the issue.

He ended the call by saying that they really have no idea when a fix will be coming because they can't figure out what is exactly causing the problem and then once more apologized.

"I feel terrible about this."

How bad are the freezes? Like, do they happen quite frequently and totally throw you off your game? If it is that bad and they don't fix it, the game will be ruined by the freezes.

I think we need at least 3 more GTA4 freezing issue articles on this page of gamegrep. At least.

Well, two of them are the same, but the other two are different, one explaining how it's freezing and this one telling us that Rockstar might not be able to fix the problem.

Why didn't they encounter this problem before it was released? Don't they pay people to play their games?

Maybe your 80gig is actually a 60gig in disguise!! Try playing some PS2 or PS1 games that the 80gig is said to do poorly on.

You know, the only one I seem to have a problem with is FFVII Dirge of Cerebrus, but it glitches on my PS2 as well. Everything else I've played works perfect.

Honestly though how can you expect this information to be accurate? The game has only been out for one *bleep*ing day!

People! I guarantee you RockStar will get to the bottom of this and hopefully fix it in due time. To find a major bug on the day of release and know immediately how to fix that bug is just unreasonable and illogical. You guys just like to go nuts over anything GTA.

What do you expect with 2 weeks of GTA4 flooding with articles. And half of them was stupid.

That's a bit of a shame. If it's happening frequently in the first day of release, then I would have thought they would have ironed out before releasing it.

Since when have we even known approximates as to the amount of games(consoles?) affected? All we've had are three stories about it. Besides, with such a huge game as GTA, there are so many things to check that it's not always possible to find everything that needs addressing. I'm not a fan of glitchy games on release either, but a quick patch and the problem should (hopefully) be solved.
