Uh Oh! The ladies are on rampage! What have you done, IGN?

StarJet | May 01, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360 Misc
Remember the video IGN supposedly took down saying they crossed the line? Just as expected, it has gone on YouTube. A female blogger has watched this video and has posted an "sick, sad and angry" post at their all-female blog. Has IGN hit a bad spot?
In GTA 4, however, not only can you pick up and have sex with prostitutes, but then you can kill them: with you car, a gun, or whatever you have lying around.
The sex is graphic (the video game is realistically rendered), and the killings have great tag phrases.

In general I don't have a problem with violence in the media, in movies, etc. In this game however, you work in the space of "possibility" meaning within a framework you can make what you want to happen. Meaning you are choosing to pick up the prostitute and kill her, as opposed to driving your car.

The other amazing thing about this game is that its rated M for Mature. In the 2005 National Institute’s study, 50 percent of boys between the ages of 7 and 14 successfully purchased M-rated video games.

After watching the video of "possibility" on youtube, i felt sick, sad and angry. Does anyone know a good way to protest this game and its rating?
Oh, and by the way, the creator of the game is Rockstar games, owned by Take 2 Games, which is slated to have their stock price skyrocket after GTA4 tallies profits.

Did you even look at the source? It's right there. Embedded! Staring at your face! How could you miss it?
Anyway, yep, people are blowing it out of proportion. Games are for fun. Games aren't training people to be killers.

But this isn't about the game, its about the video IGN made with the game. For once I agree they were right to remove it

Are you serious? I guess I was completely correct about what I posted in the article about the IGN video. How...Sad.

Seriously, GTA doesn't show violence toward women at all. How many missions or cutscenes do you see a woman getting killed? This game poses more violence to men than women. Der der der. As with the sexual content- how many of you males (the major and pretty much only purchasers and players) would hate not being able to get some in-game sex? And holy crap! You could pick up and kill a prostitute 5 titles ago. This should be old news, really.

I've been bangin' prostitutes for health and running 'em over to get my money back MANY GTA titles ago!!!! There's nothing graphic in these games, but I've seen some R movies that would make moms blush......and read a couple pages of one of my Mom's romance novels that made ME blush when I was a kid!!!

Pity the video has been deleted, but oh well. They shouldn't blow it out of proportion like this. It's just rediculous i mean c'mon yeh it must be somehwat offensive but it's a game FFS.
