GTA IV! GTA IV!! GTA IV!!! Seems to be what every Dick, Tom and Harry is thinking about these days. A psychiatrist has also voiced his opinions about the game. And shall we say, he takes a rather different opinion?
"Why would adults want to play GTA IV?"
Huh? I thought people were against children playing GTA IV. Looks like I wasn't entirely correct. He says that he cannot fathom why adults would want to play games that "have totally flipped" the sense of justice.
Roberson feels it can have an affect on those besides children.
"Yes, they are for mature audiences but why would adults even be playing them. I have no idea."
Robertson says the games reward bad behavior, which is how you win the game.
"You get rewarded for going to the prostitute. You get more health benefits, and then if you steal her money, beat her up and steal her money, you get more."
The doctor feels it becomes more detrimental the more someone plays such games.
"Just going to church on Sundays isn't going to necessarily negate hours and hours of raping, pillaging, and murdering."
Robertson feels there's a big difference between rewarding for bad behavior and the days of Superman, Batman, and G.I. Joe.
"There was morality. There was a sense of justice. There was a sense of right and wrong in that. They have totally flipped that."

Its not different to Books and Movies where theirs sense of justice isn't any better if not worse.
I see GTA as stress relief!! I love capping criminals and driving drunk with no repercussions....that's what gaming is all about, experiencing the unrealistic. Killing someone is unrealistic to me......to others it's not....but I promise that if you remove GTA from our world, crime will still take place.
People LIKE doing what they can't do in real life. That is the WHOLE POINT of games, after all. Living the life you can't have (either because it is dangerous, unlikely/improbable, or just pure fantasy)....Doesn't mean people would do this stuff in real life.
