"We're training our kids to be killers"

CNN Reporter Glenn Black went warning parents on the news about Grand Theft Auto IV. He warns them about how you can hire prostitutes, have sex with them, and kill them. And how you can kill cops as well.

And so it begins: CNN reporter Glenn Beck has gone proper off on one, warning parents on television of the new 'murder celebrator' Grand Theft Auto IV, which he says is "training our kids to be killers". Ban this sick filth!

"Whatever happened to Pong?!" asks a furious Beck, going into a frenzied rant we thought only existed in GTA's own media-mocking radio shows.

"Here's what you need to know tonight; in Grand Theft Auto your son, husband or boyfriend can hire a prostitute, have sex with her and then beat her to death with a baseball bat.

The most awesome part of this rant is that it is followed by an interview with the one and only Jack Thompson. The sheer amount of misinformation and idiocy was worth many a laugh, until I realized uninformed adults would actually take all this as true.

For example, Beck was freaked out by the fact the game got an "M" instead of an "AO", but forgot to mention, or more likely just didn't understand, that an M rating is 17 and over and that an AO is basically the ESRB's way of banning a game without breaking the first amendment.

It's so hard to be a slightly conservative teenager. I love Glenn Beck, but this is just bullshit. I just want to smack the shit out of Beck for DESTROYING his credibility by bringing someone as idiotic as Jack Thompson to inform his audience about Grand Theft Auto. I don't recall having hardcore anal sex when I brought Little Jacob to a strip club.

Too bad. I actually had my dad watch Glenn Beck and he now watches his show every night. Already today I've had to defend the game, haha. It'll be great when I see him tomorrow.

Oh, well. I guess CNN has to say something. *Shrugs* Besides, who knows whether JT went and persuaded Glenn Beck to invite him by giving _______ or something?

Lol, isn't GTA IV like the tamest one since III? Surprised Fox News didn't jump on this one. Guess they learned their lesson from last time, haha.

Hardly tame, its actually the opposite. With the new Euphoria Engine it makes 3 and everything else the tamest.

Glenn Beck is a sensationalist right-winger. He doesn't realize that GTA IV is meant for adult entertainment and not kids.

And neither do most parents. At my job at Gamestop, I try passionately to talk parents out of buying GTA IV for their 10 year old, but no matter how bad I make the sex and violence sound, they don't care. And as mad as Beck gets, the parents will destroy their children's lives, and because of the first amendment, I can't refuse to sell it to them as much as I'd like to. It's frustrating knowing that this little 10 year old is going to go home and look at virtual tits and commit grand felonies in his parent's living room just because they're too stupid to care.

This is very true though. Some children are influenced very easy. It's unfortunate that they have to ruin the gaming experience for everyone else. That's why the game is rated Mature... It's for mature audience only.
