EA do have some sense, i mean as much as Command & Conquer is a big selling franchise, it is not a massive title. It is one of those games that is huge among the PC gaming elite and a casual play for the occasional casual gamer, it certainly isn't a money making machine, EA changed it to take it into the 21st century.

EA know that Rockstar are doing something right you don't sell $500 million worth of product on one day if you aren't, EA will see that money and smile. They will not mess with the formula the only thing they will mess with is the budget and chances are Rockstar will get even more money to spend.

And you do not have to worry about EA rushing Rockstar since Dan and Sam Houser will join their list of developers elite that just get unlimited time to make their next billion dollar game, Will Wright the creator of Sims and Spore is just one in the very same situation, EA would not dare rush him, he created a formula that works and it is making EA hundreds of millions a year.

EA messed up half life 2 for PS3, so they would probably mess gta up aswell *fingers crossed they don't buy it*

All this is mute considering that EA are unlikely to buy Rockstar now. The success of GTA IV has put there share prices through the roof!

If they had managed to close a deal before GTA IV's release then this would be an entirely different

EA is good for making sport games. There not good at making anything else, although it might sound harsh its just the harsh truth. They need to realise this also.

Excuse me? Command and Conquer crashed and burned? I have to disagree. Admittedly the weakest game in the series is Generals, which was the first game EA did on their own, but they really pulled it around for C&C3. They knew the C&C community had serious doubts with them and that if they messed up C&C3 they may as well throw the franchise away, but they did a very nice job with the whole package and continue to do so.

I'm not saying that GTA wouldn't get worse following a merge; indeed it seems that Rockstar have the true knack for developing this game. But everywhere I look people are saying that EA ruin everything they touch, and it just isn't true.

i guess they'll buy rockstar north, if they continue to work the same ay they do i.e. without interruption, then it may not be completly destroyed

sure there may be some realworld advertising, instead of the comic fake ones in GTA, but....

I thought they did a pretty good job with C&C 3.....

If this happens, they won't get as many sales as they think they would, that is for sure. Besides that- I would shoot myself in the face!

Its not like GTA has changed much anyway since Gta 3, they were all basicly the same apart from a new setting and a few added extras.

Its not like ea make complete shit games ALL the time, otherwise they would not still be in business.

If EA buy them out and start churning out a new GTA game every year like they do with their sports titles and games like Need for Speed and Medal of Honour then without a doubt the quality will suffer. EA have brought out some amazing games, but once they establish a fanbase they seem to get greedy and complacent and the games just feel lifeless and bland.
