Walmart wants you to buy a copy of Wii Fit for your mother for Mother's Day, instead of the usual chocolates and candy. Walmart will give you a $10 coupon to spend on the pre-order of Wii Fit.

Forget the flowers and chocolates, what Walmart wants you to treat your mother to on her special day of the year is a copy of Wii Fit. The American retail giant is pushing Nintendo’s exercise title as “the perfect gift” for Mother’s Day.

The firm’s Internet homepage is dominated by Wii Fit, with an offer that gives consumers a $10 voucher to spend on the site if they place a pre-order for the software.

“Initial response is extremely strong, and we’re feeling really good about Nintendo Wii Fit dominating the home page,” said Kelly Thompson, Walmart.com’s chief merchant, of early shopper demand for the game. “… We really like the angle of marketing it to Mom.”

That’s right, let your mother relax on Mother’s day with a long, exhausting workout.

"Here mom, go get fit" Or as it should be put:
"Here mom, go be aware of how you're not fit."

I think my mom would be a little insulted if I got her this. Like "Hey mom, you need to lose weight, so here's Wii Fit.".

That sure as hell is true. How can someone go and say "Mom, you need to get fit. Play Wii Fit!"?

Anyway, my mother's never played a video game in her whole life, so she'll be like "What the hell is this?" if I get her one.

No kidding Andrew. it would be a good idea to ask your mother if she wants this. atleast that way you wont insult her if you get her the Wii Fit as a surprise. just buying your mother a Wii Fit is like telling them there fat and they seriously need to lose some weight! i wonder if the Wii Fit is just good for a workout? will you have any fun using it?

Edit: Who the hell rated everyones comment down?

Haha. My mum would love a Wii Fit for Mother's Day.
... maybe not as much as a Sims 2 expansion ... which is what I'm getting her instead. XD

Edit: Looks like some idiot has gone crazy with the "thumbs down" button. >_>

Gothic Girl's mom plays video games?

I wish my mother was that cool.

It's not cool when mum takes over the computer to play Age of Empires all weekend, or when she takes my Nintendo from my room to "practice" at kicking my ass in Mario kart. >_>

When I was about four years old mum bought an Atari Lynx for my birthday. I thought that was really fantastic ... until I realize she'd bough one for herself too. (X_X)

My mom would, but she only likes Lemmings
Although if she saw the Wii in action she would probably play. But she seems to be busy on the computer reading.

My mom wouldn't even like to play it. She'd try it once and say "Thanks Andrew" and never play it again.

Plus I don't even have the money. =P
