Remember not too long ago when the GTA IV advertisements were taken down after a public backlash? Well apparently Take Two are suing the Chicago Transit Authority for violating there agreement. They are seeking $300 000 and for the ads to be put back on

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The publisher of the controversial "Grand Theft Auto 4" video game sued the Chicago Transit Authority on Monday, accusing it of pulling ads promoting the blockbuster without explanation.

The video game's publisher Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. sued the transit authority in Manhattan federal court for violating its free speech and contractual rights, saying it pulled its posters within days of the ads first appearing on April 22.

Take Two accused the authority and its sales agent, Titan Outdoor LLC, of violating a $300,000 (150,000 pounds) ad campaign agreement that included running "Grand Theft Auto 4" poster ads on the sides of buses and transit display spaces throughout the Chicago transit system scheduled for six weeks between April and June.

    Yay go Take Two, i guess when you have money you have confidence, Take Two would have never pulled this before GTA IV.

        They couldn't i mean they were a company without money all their money went to GTA IV thats why EA were so forceful they knew Take Two had no money.

          Trust me they had money, its impossible for developers like R* and T2 who makes massive money on great hit games to not have money. They lost money from making the game and Manhunt 2 but they had money, trust me

    While the game is violent and should not be given to kids, face the facts, Take Two had every right to put their ads there. I'm an opponent of censorship, period, and taking those ads down was a violation of free speech. I'm glad they're trying to set Chi-town straight.

    It isn't Free speech, really, it is the simple fact that today's society, for some weird reason, hates violent games, but adores movies that showcase, sex, drugs, and extreme violence.

    I'm glad they are going to sue. Taking down the ads was totally unjustified and a breach of contract.

    Though it is a bit 'after the fact'...

    Game has been out for a week now....

    Sure, ads woul still work and such, but meh...

    If they get some money back, it would probably be worth it...

      Its not about that, its about the Principal of the point that they breach contract. And they're going sue them cause of it. If you have a contract with someone you can't breach it other wise The magical words and action will take place

      Lol, but they should have kept them up there if it was under a binding contract. GTA IV signs being plastered everywhere you turn would get annoying htough

    Lol, one of the few cases of a company suing somebody that I actually agree with. Breaching contract and essentially participating in censorship should be met with swift retribution and I applaud Take-Two in their decision.

    Oh boy. A little child will see an ad, and because of it, become addicted to the game, or try it.

    Unlikely enough and against free speech enough for Take Two to deserve that $300,000.

    Yeah, if things are written down in a contract, unless there's some kind of police intervention or reason, there's no real way you can break the terms of your contract and expect to get away with it. If they wanted to advertise GTA IV then they should have already been more than aware that certain groups would oppose any promotion of the game. It's no reason to go back on a contract you signed.
