Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.. the movie?

Bale Fire | May 07, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 Company Misc
A lot of people point out the similarities between Tomb Raider and Uncharted and there is about to be another trait they share. A secret source close to the deal has informed Joystiq that Atlas Entertainment wants to turn the popular PS3 videogame into a film. While this should be treated as a rumour at best Joystiq have already begun examining who could possibly be penned as the role for Nathan Drake, and guess who they arrived at? Nathan Fillion.
It's time for another installment of Anonymous Hollywood Insider Reports, here on Joystiq. Last time we caught wind of some Hollywood fat cats eying up the BioShock license like a so many pounds of plasmid-injected steak (Take-Two's chairman later listed a cinematic adaptation of the property under "potential opportunities"). This time, a well-placed source close to the deal tells us that the movie rights to Naughty Dog's highly cinematic action-adventure game, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, have been optioned by Atlas Entertainment. There isn't much else to go on besides that; the project has yet to be formally announced and is still in the earliest stages (that is to say: being written). When asked for comment, an SCEA spokesperson told us, "We have not made any announcements regarding movie options."

I really don't like Video game movies or vice versa. Can't we just have original media?

What's the point? It couldn't be better than the game itself!!!

kik, nothing is original, everything one way or another in movies or games take things from other things.

Not a bad choice imo, looks like him. However i don't think its going to happen since its a rumor.

They share the same first name, no less...

I'd like to see it, maybe...

The main problems with making a game, into a movie, are:

Story - A lot of games are kinda 'meh' on stories. Uncharted however, has a good story, so that should work out fine...

Length - This is an issue....Most story based games run at least 8 hours (unless you rush through it)....They'd have to chop up a good percentage of this game. Though I suppose, considering all the unessential battles, and exploring, you could probably easily cut the game's length in half....If they make the movie over 2 hours, it should work....but most movies these days are an hour and fourty minutes or less...

Special Effects - Not a big issue in uncharted.....They mostly need some on-location jungle shots, and/or some studio movie magic....CG backgrounds perhaps, for some of the long range shots...

Uncharted should be able to do well with these issues....SO LONG AS THEY DO IT RIGHT >_

I think it should be a two part movie.
