A number of unlucky gamers have had to wait that little bit longer before properly immersing themselves in the experience that is GTA IV, due to a number of technical hitches which have caused online problems and even entire system crashes. However, Eurogamer.net has been informed by a Sony employee that a patch is due to be released today which (hopefully) solves these problems. As was presumed, the crashes are thought to be due to the extreme strain put on Gamespy servers in the release of the game, hence why many have solved the problem by simply disconnecting from PSN. How successful the patch is remains to be seen, although one has to applaud Rockstar for their prompt fix.

Speaking to Eurogamer, a Sony source explained that the patch would help by "reducing the loads on the servers at GameSpy and hopefully the completely random hangs that some users have seen".

Its just as much as an applaud to Rockstar as is Sony, since they did state that they are willing to help the problem be fixed.

Im glad there's a patch coming and hopefully this will solve the problem.
