Apparently Australia isn't to receive the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle with PS3 that Japan and Europe are getting. Poor form whoever made that decision. Many of us down under were looking forward to getting that bundle.

Retail sources have informed us today that the Australian market will not be seeing the release of the Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle that was announced in February. The bundle in the US will include a limited edition 'hagane' coloured 80GB PS3, a Dual Shock 3 controller and, of course, a copy of MGS 4, all for $US 499.99.

Sources also told us that the recently released GTA IV 40GB bundle didn't fair so great in Australia on release, which may have influenced the decision (although that bundle *was* released 3 days after GTA IV was released). That, and the fact a relatively small market like Australia may not be able to properly sustain another blockbuster bundle in what is a pretty short period of time. Still, I'm sure some fans down under will be quite disappointed with the news.

Aww, poo. I was planning on buying this bundle. We always get jipped.

And to make matters worse, we'll be paying a whopping $110 - $140 on the game! (depending the store you buy it from).
To put that into perspective - The Australian dollar isn't too far off the American dollar ... So we are paying double the price that Americans are paying for one game. And we don't get any special editions or bundle packs. *sigh*

We get jipped with everything...and it bloody sucks. I was hoping to get this bundle myself but now that plan has gone down the tubes. Cursed favourite playing pains in the butt. If by some small chance I ever ended up making games for a living, I'd totally play favourites with Australia all the time (and I spose Europe too to some degree)...just to see how everyone else likes it.

Wow up to $140? I was hoping to pick it up somewhere for a little under a $100 but I guess my hopes are dashed. I'll still get the best deal possible however

Where the hell are you paying 140 for this in Australia? New Release standard prices are 90-100. And the highest I have ever seen was 110.

The most ridiculous prices I've seen are at EB Games. I'm yet to see a well-known PS3 game go for any less than $110 there.
They rope people in by advertising PS3 games going cheap ... but they're never games that anyone wants to buy.

K-Mart is another place that has lately been selling the better-known games for over $100. They're slightly fairer on their pricing then EB Games, but still charge more than they should be.

Heck, EB Games sells pre-owned Wii games for $95-$100. New ones can go for $100-$110+ (Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess are their highest priced Wii games at the moment ... despite Twilight Princess being a few years old).

edit: Here we go ... Metal Gear Solid 4 is going for $120.

edit again: jeez. Just take a look at the GTA IV bundle's price: $750 and that includes a 40gb PS3, a copy of the game and a controller.

Thats ridiculous. I mean I haven't bought a New Release game in a while so had no idea the prices were blowing out so much. That is disgusting to be honest. And that price for second hand? They should be ashamed of themselves.

Is that $140 for the Limited Edition?

I know it is a bit pricey but I reckon it'll be money well spent

I say never shop at EB, a favourite tactic of theirs is to say a game is 40% off but not before increasing it's price by $30 first.

Well The Americans are getting screwed too since were not getting the bundle.

The price for games in Australia is BS, and it shouldn't be that much.
I don't know if it has anything to do with where you live but Eb Games here in America doesn't raise prices that high.

I think it is more to do with current laws and stuff that are floating around at the moment. I think it just costs a lot for them to get the new games over here for simultaneous releases.

We are just used to it...It's the same with movies. It's what happens when your country is far away from other 1st world nations. Nothing we can do about it except suck it up and move on.
