The former president of Nintendo, Hiroshi Yamauchi is now the richest person living in Japan, after getting $3 billion in the past year. He stepped down from company president in 2002 and Iwata was promoted.

Nintendo's former president Hiroshi Yamauchi is the wealthiest Japanese man alive, adding $3 billion to his fortune in the past year alone.

He tops a list of people worth $89.9 billion, according to Forbes Magazine's Japan's 40 richest people.

Yamauchi stepped down as company president in 2002 and was succeeded by Satoru Iwata. He reportedly refused to take a retirement package of £14 million, saying that Nintendo could put it to better use. And that's exactly what we'd do too.
