It is the second week of Nintendo of Europe's Hanabi Festival, where NoE will bring US and Japanese imports to the European Virtual Console. For this week, quite possibly one of the most quirkiest games ever will be released on the Virtual Console. It is accompanied by three additional games, making for a four game update.
That quirky title is none other than Cho Aniki for the TurboGrafx16. Featuring two of the most manly men in existence, the game is a shoot-em-up that features musclemen Adon and Samson, aiding the main characters Idaten and Benten. The series' wacky humor and quirky, surreal imagery have persisted to this day, and garner a cult following from gamers. Read up more on the series here.
The second game on the docket is the popular SNK run-and-gun game, Metal Slug for the Neo Geo. The series has garnered a reputation for having solid and addicting gameplay, its humor, and its vivid and fluid animation and visuals. With multiple weapons and good amount of difficulty, Metal Slug is definitely a game to recommend. Metal Slug is also available as a part of the Metal Slug Anthology for Wii/PS2/PSP.
The third game is what North America got where we last got our import game fix: Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu for the Sega Mega Drive. The Puyo Puyo series is a puzzle series, where you are matching like-colored blobs to clear them to keep your field empty. While there have been Puyo Puyo remakes on the Virtual Console already (via Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche), this is the true sequel to the original Puyo Puyo.
The last game is a billiards game called Break In for the TurboGrafx16. It's nothing to remarkable, except that it is developed by Naxat Soft, who is responsible for Alien Crush and Devil Crush.
