Apparently, Bioshock made a pretty good impression on the director of the Pirates of the Carribean movies. So good of an impression that he is going to direct the Bioshock movie! Now things like this have been tried before, and have failed, will this time be any different?

Award-winning videogame "Bioshock" is to be turned into a movie by "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski, entertainment industry media reported Friday.

The film is set to be the highest profile adaptation of a videogame since 2005, when Fox paid Microsoft five million dollars for rights to make "Halo," a project now scrapped, Variety reported.

"Bioshock" is set in a futuristic underwater city called Rapture which has spiralled into anarchy.

"I think the whole utopia-gone-wrong story that's cleverly unveiled to players is just brimming with cinematic potential," Verbinski said. "Of all the games I've played, this is one that I felt has a really strong narrative."

The report said a number of producers and studios had approached the publishers of "Bioshock," Take Two, since its release in August.

However the company had waited until the game won a clutch of industry awards before agreeing a deal with Universal.

It has such a rich story that this should be quite easy. Just hope it doesn't turn into rubbish or get "scrapped".

      First thing I thought of.

It's going to be a heck of an interesting movie, for sure. Would definitely fit as a movie, tbh.

Like others have already said, this game already has groundwork set out for an amazing cinematic piece. But if the director decides to take "creative liberties" and deviate from the events of the game, it runs the risk of FAIL.

I actually think this Movie will be a massive blockbuster hit. For one Pirates of the Carribean trilogy was fantastic i don't think the movie could be any better than what it was. The director knows what he's doing, i expect nothing less of awesome from this movie.

I dunno, the first one was quite good, but the other two were a bit fail. If it's similar in quality to that of the first, then I'll be happy.
