Rockstar has decided to hurry up and get on with Grand Theft Auto V before Electronic Arts attempts another take-over. So, what city will they use this time? Nobody knows for sure, but the company sent out specialists to evaluate some cities and the finalists have been announced. Beijing, Paris, Havana, Cancun or Venice. Which city do you think will work for the fifth installment of the GTA series?
With Grand Theft Auto IV breaking records and taking names, Rockstar has decided that before EA commits its hostile take over, they had better get started on GTA V. Im sure they believe, as we all do, that if Rockstar doesnt get going on GTA V, they could find GTA IV being re-released without an I. Nobody wants that.
The first order of business is to find a city. Theyve already done New York, LA, Vegas, San Fransisco and Miami, so its time to think about a change of scenery. This month, Rockstar will be sending out a team of specialists to evaluate a list of cities. An inside source with Rockstar cited, on the condition of anonymity, that the cities would be chosen for their personality and exotic nature.
Heres the exclusive list of the finalists, in no specific order.

Anyway i could honestly not care where its located, as long as its good. Variety helps.
I'd love to be able to go down Princes Street and go "omg. I've been to that Burger Shot irl."
It'll never happen though
i havent been there but from everything i hear about it, it screams GTA setting
I can see Paris possibly working...unless they do what many games have been doing, and have it take place in Vegas...but that'll suck, not a big open environment.
Chicago or Cancun sound the best to me.
Well, it wouldn't be Tokyo-Tokyo. Just based on it's design. They'd add seedier elements and more crime, of course....
Hong Kong works out well too, I think....
Edit: I do believe Carcer City is based off of Chicago.
I've wondered about Chicago and Detroit, but....
(1) The CTA backed down to FOX news with the GTA ads, so having a GTA take place there would just be kinda questionable. The mayor of Chicago already expressed his distaste for the franchise as well. R* would have to expect more trouble from the city and the media. http://www.neoseeker.com/news/7924-chicago-transit-authority-taking-heat-for-gta-iv-transit-ads/
(2) I thought Detroit already had a lot of gun violence issues? I'm bringing this up because a city that already struggles with crime and has a bad name for it may not appreciate having a game like GTA set there... kinda like how some people got really mad over the appearance of the Manchester Cathedral in Resistance.
In the end, I would prefer that the GTA games (if they keep coming out with more) stay in American or English speaking cities. It'd just be easier to take in. If I had to yield, I'd say Europe, and a big fat "NO" to Asia-GTA. In the big American cities, R* can play around with different ethnic groups, and we're amused by a pretty wide variety of characters.
But if they took it to another country, we may lose that. I know in the UK, they may still be able to play around with that, but... let's just say Japan and China aren't exactly melting pots, unless they kind of mix all the Asian groups together and watch them go at it. Still, there's too many cultural nuances that don't suit GTA.
Oh, and watching games or movies that take place in non-speaking regions but have ALL the characters speaking fluent English just irks me.
Or if they just want GTA V to be really brutal, go to Jersey City.
