Pokemon Platinum for the DS has been confirmed, and will release on the Ninendo DS this September. A few details are out, like Volkner is not the leader of Sunyshore City, and the underground will be completely compatible with Wifi.

If Japanese publication Coro Coro Comics is to be believed, the last iteration in Nintendo’s critter-hunting Pokemon series is named Pokemon Platinum, and will be heading to the Nintendo DS in Japan this September.

Legendary Pokemon Giratina is seen to feature prominently in Coro Coro Comics’ single-page feature (and on the box of the game), so it could be that the monster who debuted in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl; one that represents death and dwells in the ruined depths of Turnback Cave, be central to the upcoming plot in Platinum?

The first details reveal the following snippets of information:

* Volkner is no longer the gymp leader of Sunyshore City
* The Underground is now compatible with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
* An island named Battle Island will feature, and functions in a similar manner to that of the Battle Frontier
* Several new Pokemon will make their debuts in Platinum, including Giratina’s Origin Form, Regigigas’ Sky Form, and Shaymin’s Another Form - Giratina and Regigigas’ new forms are said to be able to acquire the Levitate ability and Shaymin’s Another form may be at least part Ice Type.

Everything’s a little bitty as far as details go, but as soon as we hear anything more, we’ll let you know.

I found it too much like the old games..I felt like I'd already played it. I dont know what they need to do to shake things up, but..something.

Never could get into Pokemon......just seemed to take forever to catch them, release them, catch them again, release new one.......it just ended up being brutal on my attention span.

The third of the D/P series was inevitable. Shame that they changed the version to a metal instead of sticking with minerals like Diamond and Pearl

All the newer generations of Pokemon are just utter shite. You can tell they are running out of ideas for new ones.

Take of the nostalgia goggles there. they where never original, seriously, a blob named muk? a snake named "snake" backwards? If anything they're just getting more original.

The original names were horrible. At least these new ones are a bit catchy.

Remember, those are the english names, they're so simple because most people high up think all American Children are *bleep*ed. Also, English wordplay sucks all-together. Japanese names are way better, same with French and German.

Platinium is okay, it doesn't match with Diamond and Pearl which are precious stones, but neither does Crystal with Gold and Silver.

Well they are running out of really good names of stones to call the games, so they're putting random things as titles =p.

The only Pokemon Games I really enjoyed was Yellow, Red and Blue. That was the only one I not only maxed out the Pokedex and raised half my Pokemon to perfect moveset and Level 90+.

The games after that, I got tired of it before I could do all that. Too overwhelming, too complex. Not that that's a bad thing but the Pokemon games these days require practically require commitment. I don't like that.

Dragonite, I have the same sentiments. I loved Gen I, but when Gen II-IV came out, they just didn't look like they were anything. I did get Pearl, and I liked it. Probably won't get this one though. AR solves most things.

The game sounds really cool. I'm going to get it, since I did like the Pearl/Diamond games, =p. Is there going to be new pokemon though? And what will they make after this title, =p?

Great that there's a new one on the way. However, there's one part of the story I disagree with. I very much doubt this will be the last game in the series. Last on the DS, maybe. Pearl and Diamond sold so fast there's no way this can be the last one. The series has been going strong since it began over a decade ago. It's still a hugely popular franchise. That's like making the last game in the Mario or Zelda series. There'll be something after this, surely.

Most of the things you've stated about the game are just rumors.
I can't wait to get this game though. =D

The game probably won't be a waste of money. The forum on neoseeker is probably going to be even more popular than the Pearl and Diamond are now.

Is there going to be another game that is just like it?
