Now that a new James Bond game is on the horizon, That VideoGame Blog's Matthew Razak has a look at all the post-GoldenEye James Bond games, what they got right, and what they could have perhaps done 'a bit' better.

It’s also a great time to discuss the games because EA has lost their licensing agreement for the games and Activision is taking over. So we’re going to be seeing some new stuff from the franchise hopefully. Plus, despite being an amalgamation of guilty pleasures, the original Fleming books are experiencing a sort of literary renaissance at the moment, the films are both culturally significant and still relevant (thank you, Casino Royale) and for a while Bond basically defined what multiplayer FPS gaming was. In short, James Bond has not only had a major impact on culture but on gaming too.

The only decent one was Nightfire. Everything or Nothing was alright. Everything else sucked.

The best is still Goldeneye 007.

I see where this guy is coming from even though he is biased and there seems to be a lot of glossy nostalgia. Agent Under Fire was one of the two games I got when I first bought my PS2 and I really enjoyed it, sure it was over the top and a cheesy and garish but it worked well, though I never played any of the subsequent games, but from what I read they all went a bit "EA" (i.e. rubbish and formulaic).
Looking forward to the Activision era though, using the COD4 engine there is real potential to make an amazing game with amazing multiplayer. Plus the fact the films have received a well-deserved shake up there is potential for movie tie ins that might *gasp* actually be decent.

I think I played Tomorrow Never Dies, actually....I got it on the PS1? It was a 3rd person, anyhow....

According to the guy, there were some good bond games after Goldeneye....I didn't know that >_>

Nightfire was pretty good, but there were hardly any characters in multiplayer iirc. Most of the time it was like 8 Bonds' in different costumes.

Like I said, good, but not on par with Goldeneye.

I've never followed James Bond video games but the ones that I did play did not impress me whatsoever. I've played one James Bond game on the Gamecube against a friend on multiplayer and the configurations was distorted, the graphics were glitchy and the levels weren't that great. But from that experiences, I can't create on an accurate judgment on the series.

I quite liked Nightfire, since it had a solid single player and the multiplayer was quite fun with mates (sniping especially). Saying that, we all know that it doesn't compare to Goldeneye.

I never played any other games besides Goldeneye and nor did my friends. It's just the newer ones didn't interest any of us but never the less, if its good i'll get it.

I liked Nightfire a lot. It actually had a decent story on it's own, and the multiplayer was a lot of fun. Alvaroduck, there were actually a lot of characters in Nightfire. More than in Goldeneye, anyway...
