Kotaku has provided a list from an unconfirmed source of the updates coming in this year's Spring Update. This is still unconfirmed meaning still rumor status. But worth looking at and keeping our fingers crossed for.

Group Chat, Windows Live Email over XBL, Motion Sensoring, ability to copy DRM-free music files on USB storage devices to the 360, etc. are just some of the big features/updates we could be seeing. :D

If Microsoft follows the same schedule it did last year, the Spring system update for the Xbox 360 should be right around the corner. Today, an alleged and wholly unconfirmed list of changes included in the "Q2 2008" update was sent to us, supposedly forwarded from an internal source. The full list—which is after the jump—features about 80 new feature additions, tweaks and changes but was purported to be incomplete and subject to change.

Some are simply interesting as curiosities, such as an option to purchase Xbox Live memberships for charities and the addition of a Media section for audio delivered through feeds, such as podcasts. Others sound more feature robust, such as Windows Live Mail integration and an expanded "Inside Xbox" with news, weather, entertainment, help and community features.

Perhaps the most interesting additions are "Calibration options for motion sensor devices" for the Dashboard and "Support for titles to store installation data on Storage Device for faster loading" for Games. If true, the former would lend further credibility to frequent rumors that Microsoft is planning to introduce a motion controller for the Xbox 360. The ability to store installation data on a hard drive—as is done with some PlayStation 3 games—would certainly be a welcome option, if that's how the wording should be interpreted. Continue on for the full list of rumored updates.

Dear God no, I hope some of those features stay 'unconfirmed.' I don't want motion-sensoring for this system, and tbh, Windows Live e-mail? What's the point? It's easier with a computer.

      ...then don't use them?

Thing is...who will use them? Why not add more productive things like...webcam in-game action or something. xD

The thing is....Who wouldn't use them?

Just cause you wouldn't doesn't mean you can speak for the other 17,999,999 million people who has a 360.

When the hell did I say I was speaking for them? Show of hands, who will use motion-sensoring and Window Live e-mail on the 360? That's all I'm asking.

Thanks for the friggin' thumbs down. Honesty really goes a long way.

Storm when you say "Thing is...who will use them?" You are actually speaking for the people.
Your making it sound like no one with a 360 will use them.

You must have gotten a thumbed down cause people felt the same way i did.

I was asking a question...that's all that was. I didn't say, "NO ONE WILL USE THEM" I asked...big difference.

It really just makes feel 20 GB feel less and less enough.

Meh, I doubt they'd release a motion sensor device so late in the game....MAYBE as an add-on, for a few games that might support it...

Optional installation would be good, the PS3 has it (though it is sometimes compulsory)....

Ability to copy music right to the HDD would be great....A big hassle to have to burn the stuff to a Audio CD....

I think the reason they are adding motion sensing is not to integrate it into all games. Microsoft just wants to get those 3rd party Wii games to go multi probably. But there's no way they are going to make it a standard. I would absolutely hate that.

Well, that's an impressive list. If true this would be a great counter to Sony's recent PlayStation Store update. And, finally, no more 0 Gamerscore games!
