In a recent statement from Evolution studios about Motorstorm Pacific Rift. They said that they just scratched the surface of the ps3's power. Anyone who has seen Motorstorm or Motorstorm Pacific Rift would know that it is truely a beautifull game.
Speaking to VideoGamer.com at Sony's recent PlayStation Day Nigel Kershaw, MotorStorm Pacific Rift's game director, has revealed what it's like to develop for the PlayStation 3.
When asked if MotorStorm Pacific Rift is pushing the PS3 Kershaw said: "The first game pushed the PS3, this is pushing the PS3, our next game is going to push the PS3. It's not so much about pushing the hardware, it's about learning how to use the hardware in the best possible fashion."
He added: "We've realised we've just scratched the surface of what we could actually do with the machine. And I'm sure next time around we'll learn a lot more from MotorStorm Pacific Rift."
And what of the benefits of having already shipped a game for the PS3? "Now we've spent a lot of time with it we're starting to make it sing under the hood," said Kershaw. "Actually the first and second generation of games that we've seen on the PS3 are just people starting to learn how to make great games for it. It's a long race. Now that developers are starting to write their second or third game, they're starting to untap the power that's within there."
So there you have it. It seems as if we'll be seeing improvements in PS3 game development for some time to come.

But since the video game market is a business, companies are more concerned with selling games and making money, and don't want to spend too much time developing games for any system. Time is money see, so the more time spent expanding on the PS3's power for any given game, the more money they potentially lose.
A truly awesome game using most of the PS3's power may sell well, but it could take years and a LOT of money, and may not be worth it....And even if it is worth it in the long run, in the short run they're losing a lot of money.....
Multiple games developed in a row will gradually reveal more power, and release more tools for devs to use.
I reckon Motorstorm: Pacfic Rift could tap about half though
