This is the third week of Nintendo of Europe's Hanabi Festival for the European Virtual Console, where US and Japanese imports are made available to be downloaded. Whether this week will be the last for the Hanabi Festival is unknown, but there's a good chance it will be, given that WiiWare will launch in Europe next week.
After last week's release of Cho Aniki, NoE returns this week to release another three games, two of which are even more shoot-em-ups for the Virtual Console.
The first shoot-em-up is Gley Lancer for the Sega Mega Drive. One of the excellent games of the genre, Gley Lancer is a horizontal-scrolling shmup, whose main feature was the ability to aim shots fired by two helper satellites that accompanies the main ship. Coupled with the CSH-01-XA "Gleylancer"'s own weaponry, the player is presented with enough firepower and ability to defeat opponents.
The second shooter is Star Parodier for the TurboGrafx16. A cute-em-up, much similar to what Parodius was for Konami's Gradius series, Star Parodier was the parody game for Hudson's Star Soldier series. The game featured three playable ships: a cartoon'd version of a regular ship, Bomberman, and a giant PC Engine.
The last game available this week is Digital Champ: Battle Boxing, for the TurboGrafx16. As the name implies, it is a boxing game, where buttons control each hand, while the D-pad allows you to dodge and aim high/low with your punches.
