Uwe Boll's Postal banned from cinemas ... Will now appear on 4 screens only!

Gothic Girl | May 16, 2008 | News | Misc
Remember when Uwe Boll said that his movie Postal will 'destroy Indiana Jones at the box office'? Well if that feat didn't sound ridiculous enough back then, it certainly sounds ridiculous now.
Due to the political content in Boll's most recent game-to-movie adaptation, Postal has been banned from most cinemas in America. He had originally intented it to be released on 1500 screens around America ... It will now only appear on 4 screens.

Reading Boll's press-release where he begs movie exhibitors to show Postal is a sweet victory for any gamer.
Uwe Boll's Postal is getting a limited release. A very, very limited release. Make that very, very, very limited. Four theaters, actually. Says Boll via press release:

quote Boll

Theatrical distributors are boycotting Postal because of its political content. We were prepared to open on 1500 screens all across America on May 23rd. Any multiplex in the U.S. should have space for us, but they're afraid... We have even tried to buy a few screens in New York and Los Angeles, and they won't let us even rent the theaters! I urge independent exhibitors to contact us and book 'Postal'! Audiences have been expecting the film and I don't think exhibitors should censor what gets played in U.S. theaters.

I feel bad for Boll right now. I mean, the man loves games. It just sucks that he hasn't got any skills.
But the main thing here is, I don't remember any political content in Postal. If there's one thing Postal Dude would stay out of, it'll be politics. I mean, can he do any civilized job? (Press R, people! )

Well on one hand I feel Uwe Boll has got what he deserves (all the bullshitting on other directors, his ego trips), on the other hand I feel sorry for him (after all spending all that money in production only to see it flop must be heartbreaking) and on yet another hand (I have three hands now?) I feel this is censorship of the worst kind. Sure they shouldn't put up graphic posters advertising it but there's no reason why it shouldn't be aired

Well if he stops making shitty movies, maybe it will be aired. He talks the talk, but can back it up.

Silver Mirror, I also have 3 hands in this case. Much the same reasoning as you. I hate the guy's obviously inflated ego, but man, I would feel bad in his position (him being a first class arse nonwithstanding). I also am tired of censorship...But meh.

But daaaaamn....To go from 1500 theaters to....4....That is just pretty much the opposite of what Boll stated it would do....Only way it could be worse, is if they released it in all 1500 or more theaters and.....wait for it.....PAID people to watch it, lol ;; (bet you saw that one coming though -_-)

And Final Blade, whether it is 'shitty' or not is not the problem. Apparently the censors don't like it (though perhaps they are secretly Uwe Boll haters)...

It's hard to feel sorry for Boll.
He has spat in the face of so many people (gamers included).
IMO this can only be a good thing... Lessening Boll's ego can only be a good thing.

IMO he should take a hint and get out of the film industry while he can, before people start burning effigies of him. I dunno how he's managed to survive considering all his box office flops but he should seriously consider a new career where he can actually make money. Though I do find it remarkable how persistent he is, despite being called out by pretty much every critic on earth.
