Nintendo is cracking down on Mario Kart Wii, banning anyone to use the name 'Hilter' on the online services. You must edit/change your name before you can continue. Stalin and Osama have been allowed, however.

To keep in line with their austere “safe and fun” policy, Nintendo has banned the name Hitler from Mario Kart Wii’s online services. If you attempt to access the Wi-Fi Connection with your Mii licence set as Hitler, you will receive a message stating that such nick names are forbidden and that you must modify your Mii name to proceed. On the other hand, those who connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection as other notorious gentlemen such as Stalin and Osama will be able to do so without a message/disconnect.

This is an Outrage! I love using my Hitler Mii to compete against people!

Well, I guess I can still use Hideki Tojo and Benito Mussolini.

Why would Osama not be allowed?

It's an incredibly popular first name. Just because one terrorist is called Osama it doesn't mean you have to associate the name Osama with Bin Laden.

Random fact ... Osama is THE most popular first name in the world.

edit: damn. Turns out I was wrong. Muhammed is the most popular name in the world. >_>

Also, like Adolf Hitler is the only person on this planet with the last name of Hitler.

You can't use the name Hitler, but feel free to use Satan, Mephisto, Lucifer, Devil, Anti-God, Cult, Disney, and the ever so popular F-Word.

Osama is allowed. Hitler should be allowed, just because someone likes a specific name means nothing, it really shouldn't be considered offensive to anyone at this point if they really learned about it, plus you only see their names for 45 seconds tops.

This also makes them hypocrites in the way. If they banned the name cause of what he did, then what about Stalin, Osama and Mussolini?

Now sure Donnelly has a point, and so do you, but their reasoning is idiotic in itself.

osama bin laden hasn't accomplished what hitler did. thats why he isn't ban-worthy yet.

Not the point, the point is he's a killer, and should be treated equally, just like the others.

There are hundreds of other killers, want them to ban all their names aswell?
      • -2
        Final Blade May 18, 08
But they're apart of history and well known.
        Those other killers aren't.

Of course they are part of history as well, simply because they aren't known to you doesn't mean that they aren't well known as well.

You obvious don't understand. Which ones stands out to you, some named killer in a city or people like Stalin, Mussolini and Osama or Suddam Which people are learning in school world wide right now?

Thats the point. Im not going to know Lei fu(random person) from China killing a girl, compared to these names, which are known WORLDWIDE.
          Thats the point.

I did not mean who people popped up in the the news once because they killed some one once, I meant other mass murderers, obviously they aren't going to be on the same level as Stalin, Hitler or Osama but there are hundreds of other mass murderers. Just because they haven't been given the same amount of exposure as the others doesn't make what they did any less horrendous or any better than Hitlers.

To be honest i think its stupid. If your going to ban hitler than ban all other malicious characters. Also i have never seen anyone race as Hitler etc.

i think they should ban all malicious characters, which would include Stalin and Osama, it's pretty stupid just to remove one name.

Its just a name, jeez... If anyone is offended by a name, they are far too sensitive.
I can kinda see what they are trying to do though, but if they are going to to something, at least do it completely.

Its this kind of crap that makes me mad, almost everybody that is educated knows about hitler, what would playing a racing game have to do with a name like hitler? Now i havent played it, but id imagine seeing a name like hitler is in the race or w/e is just something to laugh at imo.
