After first launching in Japan, and two weeks ago reaching North American shores, WiiWare, Nintendo's new development platform now makes its way to European shores, bring it six games available at launch, with all of the games drawing from Nintendo of Europe's released list of launch window games.

The six titles made available for European WiiWare are the following:

  • Dr. Mario & Germ Buster, Nintendo, 1-4 Players, 1000 Points
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, Square Enix, 1 Player, 1500 Points
  • LostWinds, Frontier Development, 1 Player, 1000 Points
  • Star Soldier R, Hudson, 1 Player, 800 Points
  • Toki Tori, Two Tribes, 1 Player, 900 Points
  • TV Show King, Gameloft, 1-4 Players, 1000 Points

Dr. Mario & Germ Buster, known as Dr. Mario Online Rx in North America, is the Dr. Mario remake for WiiWare. This version of Dr. Mario supports up to four players simultaneously, with the option of going cooperative or competing against one another. Players can also go head-to-head through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King is a city-building simulation, where the player control a young king as he tries to rebuild a kingdom that had been lost to the miasma of the original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game. The king must keep up the daily upkeep of the city, by keeping his subjects happy, and also build up his kingdom, by sending adventurers to conquer dungeons and retrieve the resource elementite, which is used to create buildings. The game features downloadable content in the for of extra races, buildings, dungeons and outfits.

LostWinds is an action-platformer where the player controls the wind to aid the protagonist Toku as he quests to defeat an evil elemental. Players control the wind by using the Wiimote in conjunction with Toku's movements to allow him to jump higher, stun enemies and solve puzzles, in one of the breakout hits for WiiWare.

Star Soldier R is the latest installation in the Star Soldier series. Take control of the ship "Caesar" as players try to shoot their way to a top score in a two- or five-minute time attack. Retaining the classic Star Soldier gameplay, Star Soldier R is a vertical shoot-em-up, with three adjustable ship speeds. There are two possible powerups: red and blue capsules, which augment the ship's offensive and defensive capabilities, respectively. Red capsules will eventually augment the ship's offensive capabilities into a five-way shot, while blue capsules will augment a shield surrounding the ship, which can be detached to attack enemies. High scores can be uploaded to online leaderboards on the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Toki Tori is a puzzle game where the player controls the titular chick hero as he attempts to rescue his unborn family. Gameplay consists of Toki Tori using the tools available to him and the level to gather all the eggs within the level in a certain amount of time. Incorrect or unintelligent use of the tools most likely result in the stage becoming unbeatable, and must be started over. The game is a remake of the 2001 Game Boy Color game of the same name.

TV Show King is a trivia game where up to four players can participate in a quiz show, where the fastest answer will get you the most points. The game sports upwards of 3000 questions in six categories spanning from geography to pop culture, and more. Players are represented by their Miis.

Currently, it is unknown whether Europe will see a Virtual Console update this Friday due to WiiWare release. Given the case of Japan and North America, there will most likely not be any VC games released for Europe this week, but we here at GameGrep will keep you informed in case there are releases.
