Paul Barnett is one of the developers for Warhammer Online, but if he had to develop a MMO on a console, he wouldn't know how to do it. He said to create a successful console MMO, "You would have to build something very console centric from the get-go." He later went on to say the best chance of someone doing that would be Nintendo. He noted that the secret to a good console MMO lies within Rock Band, saying "The best example I can find for a perpetual online console game is Rock Band, with it Xbox Live community store. It's somewhere in there. I don't know what it is, but that's perhaps the closest I've seen to convincing console people to do things together, to do things online, to do things that cost money, to earn income."

A successful console MMO would have to different, he says. "You would have to build something very console centric from the get-go. I think probably the best chance of someone doing something like that is Nintendo - doing
something crazy that no one expects."

He went on to say that the secret to a good console MMO lies somewhere within Rock Band. "The best example I can find for a perpetual online console game is Rock Band, with it Xbox Live community store. It's somewhere in there. I don't know what it is, but that's perhaps the closest I've seen to convincing console people to do things together, to do things online, to do things that cost money, to earn income.

Why doesn't he give it a go? Simple: "I wouldn't know how to do it," admits Barnett.

Strangely I had an MMO Wii concept recently it is based on three concepts.

    (1) A platforming MMORPG, (2) a huge spherical world (like Mario but with a proper sized world), (3) made of different layers made from twenty flying islands. With towns naturally, a quest style level system that features very open levels. Sort of Mario meets Fable.

It would be great if Nintendo made it so it was rated M and had Wii Microphones that could only be sold with it. No worries about kids. It would make it easier to strategise.
