Kojima has changed his mind - He is now thinking about making MGS5!

Gothic Girl | May 22, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
Konami recently hinted that a sequel to MGS4 might be on the way, though associate producer Ryan Payton later confirmed that a direct sequel to MGS4 would be almost impossible as it tied up every loose end in Solid Snake's story.

Well it looks like Kojima can't put Snake's story to rest. In a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, he revealed that he is already thinking about a possible sequel to MGS4.
Yes, even though Kojima said that MGS4 would be his last entry into the series, it would appear he has had a change of heart.

If MGS4 is a hit, he says it would be impossible not to continue the story!

Kojima, you tease!
Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't even out and whaddaya know, the game's creator Hideo Kojima is already thinking about Metal Gear Solid 5. While MGS4 was supposed to be Kojima's last entry the series, he seems to have had a change of heart recently. Isn't he ready to move on to other things? Dunno. What we do know is what he told Famitsu:

quote Kojima
I gotta start thinking about MGS5... Even though, well, Snake's story ends in MGS4.

...About MGS5, that would be something that Kojima Productions would have to make, I think.

I remember after MGS2 he said he wouldn't be doing Snake Eater, and then when he was working on Snake Eater, he said he wouldn't be doing Guns of the Patriots. I never know for sure what he is up to!

Haha, his mind's in a constant state of flux. xD I'd rather him open a new chapter in the Metal Gear series. As much as I've enjoyed Snake's story, I don't want it to drag on.

I love MGS, but Kojima, do us a favor and work on Zone of the Enders instead. As much as I love MGS, I havent played ZOE in a longer time than MGS.

Maybe he'll base thd rest of the games on another character, considering Snake's fate is pretty clear in MGS4.

Nothing is clear Red, never try to predict a man like Kojima

I really wish he would end it, a spiritual sequel would be better, like Bioshock is too System Shock 1 & 2

Good points. Snake doesn't need to be present, as long as the gameplay is true to the MGS style.

First off, Kojima's a hack, and he's not going to stop making Metal Gear games until it's a completely unviable title. If you ever thought otherwise, you sir (and madam) are an idiot.

He's in it for the throne, fame, and glory. Kojima Productions wasn't created to compile just a few games. A simple history lesson in Konami's ethics would prove the point time and again.

As said, Metal Gear doesn't have to be about Snake once the "SOLID" is dropped from the title. Raiden, Meryl, or any other created characters can take over, though it'd be a lot easier to toss Raiden back as the front man as they'd be able to skip the origin setup. And now that people think he's cool again, Kojima's willing to use that, no doubt.

    Kojima's totally predicatble, imo.

Doesn't mean he isn't good at what he does. Besides, I think it's good to remain open-minded and dynamic as a developer, even if it means going back on your word a few times in a year.

My opinion differs greatly from yours as far as "Kojima" being "Good" at what he does. I think he's screwed up the Metal Gear series big-time with his back asswards stories, the horrendous loophole I could fix in a heartbeat without sacrificing anything (and gaining much more, far as I can do), and nuke the shitty humor and replace it with something much more subtle and fitting, and not so *bleep*ing corny and distracting.

If only he'd pull his egotistical head out of his ass and realize games have moved beyond what he considers to be 'epic'. Namco, Konami, and Capcom are just three big studios that have all decided to cut the quality bar short, and dish out quickly developed re-skins of of existing games. Devil May Cry, Ace Combat, Castlevania, Resident Evil, Tekken, Metal Gear, Ridge Racer, Mega Man, Contra, and others.

Since when the hell did the true potential of these series get flushed down the crapper?

Predictable like Raiden in MGS2? You knew that was going to happen, right?

If Kojima chooses to make MGS5, then I don't care what he does with it (whether he continues Solid Snake's story or not).
As long as it's a great game, I'll be thrilled.

Personally, I prefer MGS4 to be the final game in the MGS series. And the next one could be a Metal Gear game with a different anti-hero and plot.

As long as Kojima is still working on another Metal Gear game instead of his employees. I'll be happy.

    *gasps unconvincingly*

    I am SO surprised!

    /fake surprise >_>

So long as the games he releases are good, I don't care how often he says he won't be doing something....Better that, than saying he WILL do something, and doesn't....

It doesn't mean he's gonna direct it, perhaps just produce it like he did with ZOE.

And on that note, why doesn't he do ZOE3 instead? ZOE2 is just aching for a next-gen sequel.

Because he doesn't personally like ZOE. It was an idea he tinkered with, then didn't feel like following through with. He made the sequel due to the first one's success, as it would help his rep with Konami - though surprise surprise, it received negative feedback as the control system, boss fights, and cel shading switch, as well as an even more (as is standard with Kojima) back asswards storyline than the first game featured, held the game back from being something that could have been much better.

      DINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
      Nuff sed.

Also, Nohman seems to be the test-bed for the shitty MGS3 'Volgin' character.
