Miyamoto: high expectations for Wii Fit stressed me out

shuandrew | May 23, 2008 | News | Wii
Wii Fit's inventor Shigeru Miyamoto has explained that developing the software and Balance Board was a stressful experience, particularly because of the high expectations placed on the shoulders of himself and his team. Guess he'll be glad to look at all those mega sales figures, then.
He's the inventor of Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Wii Fit (amongst many others) and a living legend in the world of videogames design, but even Shigeru Miyamoto admits that working on the development of his first exer-gaming product wasn't all fun and games - in fact, high expectations very much stressed him out.

I don't see why it was so stressful. The concept isn't new at all, and I really, really hope that Nintendo wasn't relying on this to be their game of the year.

Stress may be horrible to have when your working on a project, but if you just ignore it and get on with it, it will pay off, just like Miyamoto.
