Little over a day after Wii Fit launched in North America, reports suggest that Microsoft is to launch a more energetic competitor for the Xbox 360, called aLive. What's more, the firm has claimed that Wii Fit "is for wimps."

While we've already reported Microsoft's first steps in linking itself and the Xbox 360 to a healthy lifestyle by sponsoring the first annual Family Fitness Day, reports suggest that it is in the process of developing a more "violent" rival to Wii Fit, called aLive, which will launch this June.

To rub salt into the wound, WiiFitChat.com reports that Microsoft has dubbed that Nintendo's Wii Fit is "for wimps."

HA! I think Wii Fit will outsell any competitors anyway, The Wii has the Wii Board and Microsoft has a controller, how the hell is a controller going to make you fit? Unless they take another idea from Nintendo (first being the Remote that looks like a Wii remote)and make a board, this is going to be a flop.

I never thought Microsoft would copy Nintendo. Now, anything is possible. Dreamcast 2, this Christmas, plix.

You should see the XBoxmote they invented. Doesn't roll off the tongue as easy as Wiimote.

Good point you made. A remote that sounds boxy probably wouldn't be very comfortable anyways. :\

Wonder what they will do to make it more "violent". Uphill running simulation for three hours chasing a bear that mauled you even though you should be running away?

The Microsoft version will have you running on the spot and blowing people's heads off at the same time!

"Dance and yoga are fun, but violent actions are what get people in shape"

Actually, getting the hell outside and doing some sport gets you fit. If a person uses Wii Fit as their main method of keeping fit, then yes, they are wimps.

Wii fit has sold so much in Europe, and they are saying it is for wimps? They just insulted so many people.

I've changed the title. Microsoft haven't actually announced "aLive" yet.

WiiFit is for masochists... There is only one way to describe those that sit back while a game insults them and their family calling them all fat, I hate WiiFit i could get a better work out for less at a gym and i would save money at the same time. aLive could work aslong as they don't tell me that my last meal made me clinically obese when i am infact probably more underweight than anything... aLive will work if it does make you work and it cheaper.

You couldn't save money by going to a gym instead of buying Wii Fit. $90 one time or $60 a month every month?

Maby not save money, But get more value for it.

More value my ass. First, they invent a place where you exercise, to replace the exercise you get when you harvest wheat, work in the fields, do all the 1800s stuff that got abolished with the new era... and now, video game exercise equipment?

          Seriously, it's borderline pathetic.
