But that's more of life achievements, not game achievements . . .

I have done all those except for the Sega Game Gear (TBFH, I might be the one you're supposed to argue with...) and Ridiculously long cheat code achievement. :3

If retro games had achievements, retro gaming would probably not be that great, because the market would have been filled with games intended for achievement whores...

Yup exactly. The problems we are seeing today, would have been back when the games were young and gaming would have grown up twisted and diseased. Then by the time we reached now, it would be so much worse!

I don't know about that. Back then gaming wasn't anywhere near as mainstream and I have doubts that the gaming community would have been so accepting of products churned out for nothing more than grabbing achievements.

That said, I guess the condition of different eras of gaming is dependant on the person. Retro has seen some genre defining moments, but I'm not sure I'd prefer playing the Gameboy over my DS.

Retro games are getting achievements, just look at Wolfenstein 3d! I am sure that when the original Call of Duty comes out ti will also have trophies/achievements.

If retro games had achievements, they would no longer be 'retro' games.
