As mentioned in a precious article, it was today confirmed that the PS3 will be getting a price cut. Along with that we now have the box scan of the 80 gig box scan (click the image on the top right hand corner).

The new 80gig version will also come pre-packed with Motorstorm, a game that is already a must have for PS3 players. Also from the boxshot we can see that the PS3 controller's "PS" button is red... is this an upgraded version of the controller?

This is apart of Sony's strategy of lowering the price. I believe this bundle it going to be $599 USD. The 60GB w/ no game standard is $499 USD, I believe. Still a bit pricey IMO but they're getting better. $399 and I'll think about it a bit more.

$399 and you really can't go wrong with what you're getting there. Blu-Ray players alone are still a ton.

80GB, woah, what are you going to do with 80GB, that'll last you a while.

Believe me when I say that's not necessarily the case. I've already used 20GB of my 60GB Hard-drive. And that too is only because I've deleted most demos that I don't really play again. If I didn't delete it, I would have around 25-30GB space max, and with more demo's on their way, it will be getting reduced very quickly.

The thing I must say is has anyone actually taken a closer look at the boxshot, and specifically the Controller? If you look closer, you can see that the PS button is red. I'm more than sure that mine doesn't turn red... so is this a new updated controller?

Yeah I took a look at the blown up picture and noticed it was red. I'm not sure if it's an updated controller or just for looks.

Its apparently already been confirmed on the PS blog, that it is just another case of them featuring the Dev controller...But who knows, maybe they are saving the Led lights for the Rumble enabled controller?

I'm bloody annoyed, I only got my system just before May, and they already are getting ready to release a version of the console with 20 more GB, AND motorstorm pre-packaged? I'm irritated....especially since they might be able to get 5 Blu-ray movies free, wheras I get none -_-

For them to go down another $100 would take two years, imo Maybe they'll drop it another $50 come this time next year, but I'm sure they'll be getting more consoles sold with this recent drop alone. Hell, me and three other friends are going to pick them up soon enough because of it.

This is great for Sony, more consoles will be sold now for sure. I bet people will be kicking themselves who bought one just before this was announced. I am guessing that Sony will reduce it another $50 or so around Christmas.

The more they drop the price, the closer I get to actually buying one. It's still a bit more than I'
m ready to spend but I'm glad to see the HDD upgrade and the price coming down.

I cant see what this is going to do really, making more consoles could be a downfall for Sony, as its not as if the 60gig's went off the shelfs that quick

I see people complaining that they got the console recently and paid pretty much $100 more but you need to look at it this way - you were able to enjoy the Playstation 3 for an extra couple of months. For me knowing that is more than enough, because at the end of the day, if you wanted a cheaper console, you might as well wait till the PS4 comes out, at that time the PS3 will only cost $100, but the fact is at that time, you wont have had time to enjoy the PS3 as if you had bought it at Release.

Where's the UK cut? I've been waiting for a better line-up before buying one, but I'll definitely purchase a PlayStation 3 if the price tag drops over here. Hopefully by that time we'll have the rumble back in the SIXAXIS controller too.

The lack of the Emotion Engine chip isn't too much of a big deal, the software emulation is pretty decent. Plus it supports upscaling of resolutions.

From what's been said, they're only giving price cuts in the US (Yup no price cuts in the UK or Japan). Lets just hope that they do eventually bring price cuts to Europe. Even though I have a PS3, I think if more people buy the PS3 in the UK, they'll be more likely to think of us as well as those in the US.
