Final Fantasy XIII Preview In Play Magazine

The game was announced during the final E3 2006, and is one of the Playstation 3's biggest third party exlusive titles. Still with an unknown release date (speculated to be 2009), Final Fantasy XIII is certainly looking better and better with every new piece of information, and fortunately, we've just been given two more scans.
Here are just some of the points made in the article:

  • Alot of the old FF teams staffs are returning to this project, including those that worked on VII, X and XII.
  • Physical Acrobatics will be in the game
  • The driving force of the game will be to uncover lightnings past
  • Mr 33cm's allegiances are quite ambiguous... he could be good or bad...
  • We're getting ATB system along with a Quick Time command system... makes for a better gameplay...

    Lightning's Past? So what, did she get the tired old cliche of 'amnesia'? Or is it just you, the gamer, that wants to have more revealed about her past? The further you go, the more flashbacks you see?

      They don't reuse characters, though. Every Final Fantasy is set in a different time/universe/dimension/story the only Character reused is Cid, and even then he's different throughout every game; just that there *is* a Cid.

        That's not reusing a character. Simply a name. Just a staple of the series, like Biggs and Wedge.

        Chocobos and summons still tend to reappear a lot. Not that I mind, since I actually like those more than any of the main characters in any FF.

    XD I like that bit about Sakaguchi at the bottom. Made me laugh.

    Oh, Square Enix, why must thou playeth mine emotive expressions and so consistenly lay test to my patience? Ah, 'tis naught but pain...

    ... To be perfectly honest, I won't be surprised if FFXIII gets a perfect 40 from Famitsu when it comes out. I mean, if FFXII got on, how hard can it be?

    I expect I'll be enjoying it no matter what reviews it gets. Because of Lightning. Because I'm a shameless game-whore. XD

    Famitsu, IMO, has lower standards than everyone else. I mean, they gave Lair an 8/10.

    Wow, they are some hot scans. The graphics look so refreshing.

    Red 9 is correct.. Famitsu scores are, (while influential) erratic at best.
