Ironclad Games, maker of Sins of a Solar Empire, getting hit with DDoS attacks?

kspiess | March 19, 2008 | Other | PC Company
Sins of a Solar Empire has been incredibly successful: coming from a small team of under 15 developers, this RTS/4X hybrid game has been a huge hit with critics and gamers alike. It has already sold over 200,000 units, becoming one of the best selling PC games of 2008, with almost hardly any preview coverage from the major gaming sites.

Is it possible that someone, or some group, is jealous of Ironclad's success?

It seems that the Ironclad website has been getting bothered with some Denial of Service attacks. The forums have been slowing down to a crawl for some people (like myself personally), intermittently over the last 2 weeks or so.

A forum member by the name of ZzZ_Guy reports that a dev' told him in an IRC chat that Ironclad has been getting hammered by some jerks, or jerk, out there who have launched DoS attacks multiple times.

There has been no word yet on who the potential culprits behind the Internet-hooliganism might be.

Hope the bastards cut it out, Sins is a great game, even if it is lacking a campaign and a multiplayer lobby/search type system.

Yeah, it's funny. Up until the first 6 hours or so into the game I thought the game was completely overrated. But now I'm really enjoying it a lot. It is such a different design that it takes a bit of getting used to, but it is fun for sure, once you do.

I betcha a lobby search thingee will come pretty soon. The Ironclad guys have patched the game more already than some games have been since launch (*cough*Hellgate London*cough)
