Team Fortress 2 Medic Extended Weapons Announced

tekmosis | April 16, 2008 | Other | PC Playstation 3
Whith TF2 still as popular as ever and to continue with features to keep players coming back for more, Valve has released details on the first class to get their set of extended abilities; The Medic.

The Blutsaugher
Players who earn one third out of the 36 new medic achievements will be given a new syringe gun. The new gun is named 'The Blutsaugher'. This new weapon does not give out crit hits but instead will suck health from enemies when hit. This will be useful when low on health or when you're trying to run from a fight.

The Critzcreig
At two thirds of the 36 achievements players will be granted 'The Critzcrieg'. This weapon will be a new medigun and uses the ubercharge as a way to give your teammates a 100% chance on firing critical shots. This ability with The Critzcrieg trades protection (invulnerbility with the current medigun for mass damage).

The Ubersaw
We already know how powerful the bonesaw is and for those players who achieve all 36 achievements will be rewarded with 'The Ubersaw'. I know, you're in awe already and the name can probably explain what it does but to clear things up a bit The Ubersaw will take melee attacks and convert them directly into an ubercharge. Four hits and you will be fully charged and ready to either unleash terror on the other team.

Some very nice additions to the medic class, only 8 more classes to go!

sounds cool, but 360 only? what about ps3

Hmm? I didn't see any mention of it being for the 360 only (or any platform). Although, I would assume the very first platform to get these changes will be PC users.

Achievements can be found on the PC version as well; I'm not sure about the PS3 version, however.

There aren't on the PS3 version, and seeing as the PS3 version of the game remains equivalent to an unpatched TF2, and that EA maintain online changes with the PS3 TF2, such additions seem unlikely.

Not that I'm complaining; I got the PC version anyway, and I'm glad these upgrades don't seem to affect the game hugely. I've been looking at threads within Valve's forums and most of the suggestions are ludicrous.

I think these changes could affect the game in a large way. Think of this scenario which requires 2 medics.
Medic 1: Builds up an uber charge at the start of the game
Medic 2: Builds up a charge as well
        Medic 1: Ubers Medic 2
Medic 1 & 2: Charge out and attack
Medic 2: Ubers Medic 1 when Medic 1's uber runs out
Medic 1: Switches to Ubersaw and builds up a full charge with only 4 hits of the Ubersaw
Medic 1: Stops attacking and Ubers Medic 2 after his Uber runs out
Medic 2: Switches to Ubersaw and builds up his Uber

Repeat this and you have an unstoppable team as long as you can get in four hits with your Ubersaw.

I've got over 60+ hours as a Medic on the PC TF2...would suck if I'd have to start from scratch to get these weapons, but not a major set-back.

    Medic's my favorite class.

Well, at the moment the medic (or any class) has no achievements. When this is implemented everyone will have to get the achievements to get the new stuff.

I see. I just hope that everyone doesn't go medic in the servers just to get these achievements. Better yet, I hope that all the achievements for the classes are out simultaneously.
