LittleBigPlanet mandatory install is...quite reasonable?

A insider has managed to get some snaps of the boxart for upcoming PS3 game LittleBigPlanet. Now for a long time any gamer interested in the title must know that the game will require a mandatory install to run, and this boxart when enhanced reveals just how much of your hardrive you'll need to clear out to accommodate the game. And guess what? It's a measly 600MB, as opposed to the usual 4-6GB. Makes you wonder what all those other developers are doing huh? There are also some images of trophies attached as well.

Our good old insider has sent along even more pictures of his Little Big Planet un-boxing and installation. This time, he provides a close up of the back of the box which confirms that 600MB of drive space is needed and has also sent along some trophy shots from the game...

    What? The install on the beta is 1GB. WTF WTF WTF.

      You also don't have a disc that is holding the majority of the game, the less for the beta would be less involved in the beta.

    Apart from the time it takes for the install to happen, it won't bother me much.

    Yeah. 600MB is fine. Would take what? 5 minutes or so, at most?

    I have enough space for a 600MB install though, which is good. But I AM slowly running out of space. Wish installs weren't necessary (well, they aren't, but in some cases, it is a convenient developer workaround. I doubt it is ever totally necessary for games to run right).

    This is kind of installs that they should try and go for, not 4GB but a couple houndred megs.

      Well LBP isn't on the same scale as games like GTA IV etc.


      Of course its going to have a smaller install as there is less stuff actually in the game, I mean it is a side scroller after all.

      I know it has all this shit and whatnot, But even with those its still simple shapes etc.

    the large installs are bs. even this 600mb install, although small is still insulting. It should be an option to install data. Hell i have a 60gb ps3 and im close to full because of the damn installs.

    Same here, I have 21 GB left and if games keep taking up 4GB I'm going to have to start finding some alternatives...
